If You Let Me Stay parody?

I was listening today the 1987 live in Paisley Park DVD and during the It's Gonna Be a Beutiful Night there is moment when Prince is singing with a "funky dirty" voice. Well, maybe everything noted it in the past but I missed it: is there a TT D'Arby parody inside, when he sing "If You Let My Stay" verse out of tone?

It seems certain to me that it's a reference to TTD.

They were friends. So, I don't think it was shade unless they only became friends later.
