Tour demo wishlist. On 1999 sde, there's that really great "tour demo" of the LDC/Head/IWBYL medley. I think it's safe to say nobody knew that existed.
I wonder if there's more examples of this around? Where he recorded live arrangements in the studio to give to the band to practice with.
If you had a magic lamp, what LIVE RENDITIONS would you like to hear given the STUDIO TREATMENT?
I would really love to hear the Jam of the Year tour version of "If I Was Your Girlfriend" or the Purple Rain tour version of "Possessed" as these sound very different to the released versions. [Edited 2/4/23 15:24pm]

I think the Le Freak/Sexy Dancer mashup was a leaked track nobody new existed, and at the end it goes into Housequake ~ which is a great "live"/new rendition of it IMO. It also sounds/feels like it's from '07 or the Earth tour (21 Nites In London), and I'd love to hear more studio/rehearsal takes from this era. The three tracks in those eight minutes sound amazing and leave me wanting more!! eye dont think U heard me . . . |

Piano and a Mic... rare recording in which he segues Bloody Mouth into itself by just switching up the tempo and vocal melody. Pretty ahead of his time, hope you guys can hear it one day. |

honestly though i generally think the tour arrangements were either shortened and sped up in not great ways to fit as a segue (see lovesexy tour) or so in-the-moment live jam-ified that it's not even worth trying to record in a studio (see: something in the water)
lovesexy is my favorite album of all time but i was never huge on tours that focused more on theatrics rather than just playing songs extremely well one after another, which is why i think 93-95 npg gigs are the peak of his live career. |

Agreed on all points. When I saw the Lovesexy tour back in '88 I thought it was the greatest spectable I'd ever witnessed. But over the years my tastes have evolved and refined. Like you, I prefer concerts that ditch the theatrics and coregrahpy and concentrate on playing songs realy well.
That's why I now prefer the W2A tour over the Lovesexy tour, even though Lovesexy is my favorite album.
