Boy you are smoking something potent. Crucial is operatic and lush and full and scintillating just like Adonis & Bathsheba. He was on point with all of his sexy ballads at the time.

Yes, all that. And I’ve never liked the ‘opposite gender…army surrender’ line so it was interesting to get alternate lyrics on the SDE. .

Some of you must have alerts on your phone to let you know when “Insatiable” is mentioned so you can get on here and say “Scandalous” is a better song. It’s like some sort of requirement for some people to compare these two songs, always with the same party-line “Scandalous is better” lockstep, goose-stepping, groupthink, conformist “opinion.” . Give it a rest. Like one more than the other. Hate both. Love both. But it’s time to acknowledge that THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT SONGS. . They both fit under the broad categorization of “seduction ballad,” like many other Prince songs. . They are in different keys, different time signatures, similar tempo but perhaps most importantly the tone/mood of these two songs are entirely different. . “Scandalous” is not lyrically playful in the way that “Insatiable” is, what with all the videotaping instructions etc. . Prince’s falsetto delivery is strikingly-different between the two songs. Much more of his natural lower range is utilized in “Insatiable.” “Scandalous” finds him employing a ‘scratchier’ (for lack of a better word) sound to his falsetto and he stays in it for most of the song. . Even more could be said to distinguish these two songs. It’s fine to compare/contrast, but why OH WHY do people insist on linking these two as if “Insatiable” is specifically a literal rewrite of “Scandalous?” I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

I feel it is my duty to say, while it is an enjoyable song existing in the same seduction ballad wheelhouse, it pales to the dreamy majesty of Scandalous. Hundalasiliah!
