prince's finest 'quieter' guitar moments

i know a lot of fans need prince to be flashy on the guitar at all times, to be shredding and pulling out every trick in the book to feel satisfied, or just going HAM, but the man could also play some really tasty, subtler guitar when he wanted to.

eg - the long guitar passage, in ICNTTPOYM. im not sure it counts as a solo really.

are there others?

I'm confused about WDC and SOTT on this list. Both even start with a wailing solo.

Literally NONE of these are "quiet" lol

The very end of ´Gamillah´. Such a beautiful, George Benson inspired guitar. Always loved it.

The solo in "Just My Imagination" from the 88 aftershow. Can't remember the show, but it's the infamous one that everyone talks about.

I was going to make the same point, but you beat me to it. I guess this poster just saw "guitar moments" in the threat title and missed the word "quieter".

Ironically, if they'd said the *album* verion of SOTT, they might have had a point. But the live version? Prince turned the guitar up to 10 for that.

Illusion/Coma/Pimp really just has guitar stabs and fills, not much of a solo. In that very broad sense, guitar doesn't dominate the song. But those stabs/fills are loud, not quiet.

off the top of my head, not really solos, but cool, softer, or just quieter, guitar:

kiss (the demo bootleg)

most of the truth, but circle of amour in particular, or dionne, or other side of the pillow

gamillah

beverley park

the word

the first part of the cross

The boot is variously called Het Paard Van Troje (after the name of the club), Trojan Horse (the English translation) or more simply Small Club.

Not to be pendantic, but it's the "famous" show, not the "infamous" show. Infamous means well-known for negative reasons, i.e. notorious. I use the wrong word frequently, so I'm not judging or belittling you -- just trying to be helpful.
