The synclavier was one of the first sample machines. It is used, amongs other things, for all the samples you mentioned that Prince used to, well, make his songs worse.

.

It is, amongst many other tracks, used quite prominently on It, to the point where it defines the song. (the orchestra hits) Prince never went quite to the extremes that you saw in some of the earlier hiphop, where they essentially made remixes of songs with some rapping over it and sold it as new songs. (and get of my lawn you kids! razz )

To your latter point - you don't think Tick Tick Bang is just that? Idk about anyone else here but I almost slip into singing Hendrix in my head when I hear tick tick bang

.

What Hendrix song would you be referring to? I know the Hendrix recordings pretty well, but neither version of Tick Tick Bang has reminded me of anything that Hendrix did... could be just my ignorance of course, as it often seems without bounds. biggrin

Apart from the drum sample, Tick Tick Bang doesn't remind me of Little Miss Lover at all, other than it has a blues scheme. But Kiss does too, which also doesn't have too much in common with Little Miss Lover. And I really only play the old version of Tick Tick Bang, which doesn't have the sample. biggrin

.

But in short, no, to me Little Miss Lover doesn't sound anything like Tick Tick Bang, sorry.

Dear god. Of course it doesn't without the sample. That's the point of the thread.
