No. If you don't like to watch it in black and white, then simply don't watch it. If it was supposed to be in color, then it would have been initially released in color. And yeah, "blah blah blah but it was filmed in color blah blah blah." Whatever. Don't mess with Under The Cherry Moon. It's perfectly fine the way it is.

I just watch a whole interview with Einstein that was colorized, it was great. Not the same thing but geesh imagine the costumes in color, worth buying twice.

.

This is 100% the correct answer.

.

Furthermore, NOTHING that exists in Black & White should EVER be colorized.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Yes, since it was originally shot in color.
It was then transferred into black and white, probably because of a poor photography.

It color, it would then offer a new viewing experience, which would be interesting, especially in these dire times.

On YouTube, some fans colorized it with AI, and the result is interesting and make it worth watching it.

I certainly enjoyed watching the color clips...and frankly..I think they should re-release both the original and the colored version on the same disc or in a two-disc set and let fans choose which version they prefer to watch. Just in case the estate is listening.

Sigh.

The film was purposely shot on color film and reprocessed in b/w because Prince conceived it in b/w. Please stop with the bullshit in half your posts.

The picture above shows a man wearing a silk top exposing the small of his back and silk pants in a matching print and you're worried about Jerome?

Both Prince and Jerome were behaving like Queens...one reviewer even said that the "Chemistry" between Prince and Jerome was more palpable than the Chemistry between Prince and his female co-star.

There all not worth it, one is more decent than others but still it makes you wonder what the real thing looks like.
Someone shared a color sample of the restaurant scene with alternate takes in color to some some years ago so it seems it IS out there or some portion of it at least.

That's complete BS. B&W film cost less than in color, so why don't use the B&W film from the start?😂

More, a director of photography doesn't light a spot the same way in color, he would do in B&W.

That's the base of that work, everybody knows that.

So there was no reason for the movie to be shot in color, other than the fact it was originally planned and payed for to be in color.

That's beyond stupid to think the studio would pay for a more expensive film, just to reprocess it after to make it look cheaper.
That would have been a hell of a job for the director of photography, a useless pain in the ass.

Except shooting it in color WAS cheaper, you dumb ass. And why wouldn't it be cheaper considering movies weren't typically shot on b/w film in 1986? You think b/w film is cheaper than color and LOOKS cheaper? You're dead wrong, as usual.

Exactly, and how come there is color footage in the hands of some then if it wasn't shot in color?

"In color". Do you mean that fake colorized trash that was put out?

UTCM may have been glorious in color due to its locale BUT NO. He wanted black adn white. It was his vision.

ONLY if the original color version exists.

Colorizing is trash. I've seen it. It's trash.
