no famous persons secrets can rest in peace.

arguably, they shouldnt either.

in princes case, his death means these things can finally be aired without fear of litigation or being banished from the purple kingdom or whatever

Is this a cancelation offense? Not for me. I'm not going to waste a lot of debating it beyond making RKelly comparisons. Dude is in jail for trying to screw over the government 1st and then for having too many parents coming looking for their disappeared daughters. Stop oversimplifying s*** to make a non-point. Too many men and women have had sex with the under aged. Hell Brooke Shields had a whole career playing off that fantasy. It's been a part of the cultural acceptable taboo since forever. It's only now has the emphasis been put on how damaging it is to the individuals and society. The fake outrage just to keep getting an outrage fix is boring has f*** to be spending hours arguing about it.

Nobody here is saying "Prince should be cancelled forever and nobody should ever listen to him again". I think those of us criticizing him for this shit just want everyone to agree that it was a fucked up thing for Prince to do and acknowledge his flaws, but some of the people on this thread can't even manage that without trying to justify his actions as normal. Y'all are fucking weird

What's to air out? It has never been a secret. We've all know these girls ages when they started their relationships with Prince. And many many times people have voiced their displeasure with such relationships while the man was still alive. Obviously there was nothing to prosecute, yet RKelly is always the first go to as if this is a tit for tat situation. Such junior high school debating tactics. Now the change of stories after practically swearing on a stack of bibles, (I mean that figuratively for the easily tiggered), even after he died is worth answers to a question or 2.

the only lame thing is someone saying you shouldnt 'disrespect' the dead by talking about things they did that might not sit well with everyone.

Why dont you just gossip and speculate publicly about your own dead family members, if your need to recklessly gossip about the deceased is so strong?

Statements like this make it so easy to understand why a famous person or their family would depise the "fans". They come off as parasites and bloodsuckers. Ask yourself do you even like Prince at all or is he just a punching bag that can't hit back?

Only certain weirdos and voyeurs are "interested" in gossipping recklessly about the very intimate and personal business, and secrets of deceased musicians they never knew or even spent time with, years after theyve passed

Certain people dont/didnt see Prince as a human being, apparently...they see/saw him as some sort of disposable tool, that can/could sing and dance for them, solely for their selfish entertainment purposes.

Since the subject has been brought up.

All the people around here that loved Anne Rampling, including me, clutching pearls. Not once have I seen one word, not one, about the content. Hence I call this outrage fake as a 3 dollar bill. It's so surgically specific.

Holy shit dude, people are just criticizing one of Prince's biggest flaws because it was creepy and wrong of him to do. Get a fucking grip and stop acting like we're attacking every aspect of Prince's life, career, and personality lol

Agree. I am a Prince fan, love him and his music, but I dont have to agree with/love everything he did - personally or musically. I think it´s strange to like 16 year old girls.

.

Having said that, I must say this situation doesn´t compare to R Kelly at all.

Anna says she lied about her age when she first met Prince, that nothing happened on that first night, that they talked until six in the morning and slept in separate rooms. She also mentions that she had already done a photoshoot for Playboy in Europe before she and Prince became an item, and that she feels that she was taken advantage of by companies and people in the business, but not by Prince. Make of that what you will.

Hoo boy, can't wait to see how some of the fans on here try to spin this. What Prince did to Anna and Mayte was pretty much textbook grooming. Doesn't matter that you like his music, doesn't matter that he wasn't as horrific as people like R. Kelly or Epstein, it was still wrong and really fucking creepy. The legality of him (allegedly) waiting until they were 18 to do anything doesn't make it better.

I love Prince's music as much as anyone else here, but you've gotta recognize the dude's shortcomings instead of sweeping them under the rug.

May I remind all you pearl-clutchers that the age of consent in Anna's native land (the UK) is 16.

He didn't have sex with her until she was 18.

"Grooming" - seriously?

Y'all Qanon Republicans need to look at your own relationships and how they develop.

Well then if that's the case....When Aaliyah was alive she also denied any exploitation by R Kelly yet somehow their relationship became key evidence in his trial leading to his conviction 30 yrs later.

Both Anna Fantastic and Mayte where transported across state lines...across oceans and borders even, as he housed them in Minneapolis and (allegedly) awaited their 18th birthdays

Well you know 15 year old's have sex! And with older men and women! Were all different! It happens . And doesn't get reported. Because alot of the time it is consensual. The two ladies in question are not stupid. And they insist they were more than happy with the situation. Even looking back as much more mature ladies. So its a complex situation really. Not something I would do though! Just trying to keep it in perpective. Hes no R Kelly! I dont agree to comparing him to the likes of him. Rock stars back in the day slept with loads of women, some i bet were under age. Saying that they were drunk or stoned half the time. I do personally feel uncomfortable about it though. Being a father myself.

Where's the difference? Because it's Prince were talking about and you're a fan of his? Girls brainwashed by older male superstars who'selected' them rarely ever become adult women who then clearly see they were taken advantage of. Not Aaliyah, not Jan Gaye, not Priscilla Pressly

well yeah, ive not heard the podcast, but i wouldnt be surprised if she was up for it. i.e. im sure it wasnt totally coercive. but there is a power balance, him being older, famous, etc etc, and her not. so it would be interesting to see how she actually feels about it. but yes, 15 year olds are not all stupid. that said, the mayte story does sound worse, and closer to grooming. it could have been simply more innocent, ie him just waiting until the right age, and them being friends until then, but its clear he had his eye on a certain end target.

An adult male in his 30s 'just being friends' with 15yo girls? In Bizarro world, maybe. But in reality? What could they possibly have in common to connect on?

Fuck y'all. I waited until I was 18 to get with an older guy I was in love with at the time. Who waited for me. No regrets here. This is a bunch of bull shit. Prince did nothing wrong; he tried to do it right. Maybe it didn't work out the way he wanted or the way the women wanted. But, he did nothing wrong. He waited...and that was their choice, too. So baloney on this B.S. rolleyes

Its hilarious that people who were never there, can speak with 100% certainty about whether or not Prince had sex with underage girls or even adult age males...none of yall were there to be able to speak on where he put his dick or mouth...stop it...and as far as Anna Fantastic, Apollonia, Suzannah, Sheila E., or Charlene Friend, etc...unless these women are testifying under oath, their tales of a dead man's dick should be taken with a grain of salt...people lie everyday...for a multitude of reasons...while its pretty clear from all accounts (even his own) that he groomed Mayte, the rest of them women ALL get the side eye...not saying theyre liars or theyre not...but if the story didnt come from Prince's mouth, it cant be confirmed at all...and he was capable of telling a lie, too...so its all a moot point...let that man and his secrets, rest in peace
