7" vinyl “Diamonds & Pearls/Nothing Compares 2 U” live at Glam Slam 1992

All GA and VIP guests at #PRINCECELEBRATION2022 will receive a special limited-run, numbered 7" vinyl single with live recordings of Prince and the NPG performing "Diamonds and Pearls" and "Nothing Compares 2 U" at Glam Slam [Minneapolis in 1992].

Glam Slam show was 11 January 1992 (I think) - info of full show in “Prince Vault” link.

ey

This does give me hope for a release this year of a Diamonds and Pearls set.

Just got to get the Live album out of the way before an announcement.

I have very little interest in a D&P SDE...but I'm going to need to track down this 7".

There’s been a few of these one off single releases, none of them heralding a linked SDE (Do Me Baby, Partyman/Cool), so I’m not getting my hopes up but live in hope.

this is very obviously a nod to a diamonds and pearls sde as they literally had everything to pick from and they picked this

that being said, the set won't be done right, it won't have near as much stuff on it as it should, and it'll be another 1000 years after that until the next release DAMN

If I recall correctly, we received the Nothing Compares 2 U 7" on purple vinyl at the 2017 Celebration and they sent the leftovers to Electric Fetus. Then a regular 7" on black vinyl got a worldwide release. They will probably do the same with this.

I'm convinced also we will be getting D&P SDE this year. Not sure if the Glam Slam show will be the DVD/Blu Ray we get, but will likely be the D&P show from London. Maybe with the Glam Slam show as the live CD. I would prefer the Glam Slam show on video, since that was the first show I went to after moving to Minneapolis.

There's still hope for a D&P SDE. A release will probably happen during the fall or at the end of the year. It will not happen next year if there is a Parade SDE ready and certainly not in 2024 if the estate wants to release a PR SDE.

Out of interest, what did you think of the 1999 and SOTT SDEs?

objectively they're "big" and the general public will see them as some massive treasure trove. what is there, i like. yes of course it's good music. however on both they could have gone way way way farther had they not intentionally limited themselves to tracks that (sounded) "fully finished" to their ears, for whatever that's worth. 1999 in particular even shot itself in the foot by leaving off mountains of material that was "fully finished" it's just ridiculous.

Who's going for the VIP on thursday, June 2nd, with the exclusive admission

to unreleased recording playback sessions ?

Is this new ? (never been there, i'm from the EU)

I mean have they don this before ?

The possibility to listen to unreleased recordings ?

They haven't done that before for Celebration. They did screen Under The Cherry Moon last year and said they would be playing some unreleased material, which they did, but it was only snippets of songs.

I've been seeing this on Facebook and Instagram. From a graphic designer's perspective, I hate that image looks so washed out/desaturated.

It looks like they're trying to push the yellow shirt and guitar to white, maybe in an attempt to visually evoke a "Purple Rain"-era color scheme.

Normal stage lighting wouldn't do that. Even Prince himself looks washed out.

I hope this entire concert sees the light of day somehow. So cool to know that something with the NPG is being officially released

I completely agree.

Or maybe they loaded up a low or bad resolution.

And there is no where else a better image to be found (yet)
