I just got an email from the wrecka stow asking me to confirm my RSD reservation of the 2LP vinyl. cool

I didn't know you could reserve your copy on RSD. All the stores I called in Montreal can't even confirm if they will have it. They say they ordered but are not sure if supplier will fulfill the order. Really annoying.

I didn't even bother to look for that RSD.
By the way I bought a few weeks ago the Time 1st album, a previous red/white RSD release: it's unplayable.
I bought also the Sheila E Glamorous life, the sound is beyond terrible. So fuck that thievery of RSD.

TGE was never thought as a vinyl, it's just plain marketing.
They didn't even bother to do an art cover, that's silly.

From my own perspective I think that this release as the previous ones in the same vein by Sony are pure shit and useless...101% marketing... that's it!

I see they have gone back to the digipak format!

Kinda weird how Sony is switching it up

Chaos & Disorder, Emancipation, Rainbow Children etc were digipaks

Then the last round of re-issues were all Jewel cases

How is the inside..... same booklet and disc art?

Well … they always say they can't guarantee a copy. But the record store I go to lets you make a "wish list" well in advance, and I've never NOT gotten what I wished for. Plus, the RSD run for Gold is over 24K copies. I don't know how I don't get one when we're talking those kinds of numbers.

I can't find the price on the RSD materials, but I want to say it was between $35 and $40.

That RSD thing is a thievery and a waste of time.

There were still people here claiming the hundreds few copies " Outside the USA" For the Truth were a huge number, and made it easy to find.

Hell no, these RSD are not easy to find, unless they are on Amazon, and they are artificially expensive.

id love this RSD edition but the original gold retail vinyl (which i had to sell at one point, but hey, i didnt miss it that much) never sounded that great so i doubt this will. its just a nice package to have (way better artwork than the retail version). plus i cant keep buying every prince release the estate puts out there, so i will pass.

i will stick to my CD. cool

I hate the Promo cover.

I think if it were the original I might have got it but passing on this as I hate the cover so much and doubt the vinyl will sound better than a digital version.

Since I invested in a quality DAC I rarely listen to vinyl.

It's not 101% marketing. Of course they aren't any good for us but they are for the people that don't have it and couldn't buy it because it was out of print.

To me, it seems like a good thing to have all of Prince's released albums available for newer fans and the general public to be able to buy.

I agree. I will buy the CD version, because I never could buy it.
When I became fan circa 2001, it was already out of print.
In fact, this album has never been officially released in France.

I wish they could release the NPGMC albums. Don't know what they are waiting for exactly. It would sell well, since they were never officially released worldwide.

lol you can get a NM condition CD of TGE on discogs for about £10/£12.

if you like collecting music, idk how you can only buy stuff brand new. but hey, good for you, if you can!

the main prob for me is just that i like many songs on TGE but as an album its just not that special to me. i dont find it to be a great 'album', just a good album with some great highlights. come has the same issue tbh, but as an album i think it just hangs together better. it has a better flow.
