Yes I think you're right. I don't really remember any other previous boots sounding as good as that one when I got it.

This boot also shows Prince as a great band leader.

I don't disagree with you. I think a lot of it is brilliant, but I am making a concerted effort never to hear Bonnie scream her way through Forever In My Life again.

That's why I put Rave 2000 up there with Sign, and above Small Club. There's no overplaying or oversinging. It's as tight as a hot female ectomorph's butt.

Having said what I said about Small Club, the guitar soloing (in all its intervals) on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic is really incendiary and probably the craziest solo I've heard him play.

Small Club? I have the original X-Records CD. Wonky titles and all. Bit of hiss but that's just fine, like film grain on old movies filmed on actual film. Fine.

I actually like that there's no overt soloing. The guitar really kicks that song into supreme groove gear without ever stealing the show from the hook or the vocal.

I just wish the released version sounded different altogether.
