Absolutely not. It's a great album but I've got my own beliefs & there is no way a CD is going to change them. Same goes for Lovesexy although I've heard other fans say that that album has had a positive effect on them.

Yeah, Lovesexy used to make me really happy and hopeful that there was something bigger to live for than the everyday grind...I guess it was because the feeling was in the music and the lyrics were abstract enough that you could read your own bliss into 'em to a certain extent. It's definitely one of the deeper "good mood discs" in my music collection...

Nice one.

no- the music was great though; although we could do without Darthvader on guestvocals.

I relied on myself, friends; good and bad experiences and being open to different cultures and people. that mix and a healthy attitude of questioning everything will get you a lot further then "theocratic order".

Well TRC has a lot of good messages in it.

I think a positive message is soo rare in music these days that TRC is a very refreshing album.

I don't believe all of Prince's religious views, but I'd be fibbing if I said that TRC hasn't made me think about finding my own spirituality and beliefs.

No, after 9/11, I was already there. Last December, though, did bring to mind a special family member, which is why I dug that song.

For the past few years I've been searching for a deeper meaning in life, so I guess it was already there when TRC came out. TRC did give me a more deeper look at life's greater purpose I suppose. Especially Last December. How can one not connect or at least think about the spiritual aspect of life after listening to such a meaningful, beautiful song. Such a terrific album. hmmm rainbow

Not at all. "Eye No" had more life, heart, faith and spirituality than TRC in its entirety.

The music, however, was amazing. Loved the music. But I listen to that album rarely, if ever. I don't even know the track listing.

No. I think about spirituality a lot, so it "reminded" me of those things so to speak. It makes me pretty happy when I listen to it... it made me realize that Prince really is in a different place (musical comeback, personal shift) - good or bad, temporary or permanent, I'm cool w/ it... biggrin

I'm with the majority who blocked out the religious stuff so as 2 enjoy TRC, whereas I found the spiritual stuff in LS inspiring. Is this because of the albums or because of my age (I was 17 in'88)?

I can never say enough about TRC. It is an amazing cd. The music is pure genius and his voice is enough to melt anyones heart. I do not like some of the religious lyrics, but other than that, TRC is a masterpiece. To answer the the original question, NO, it did not make me think about a greater purpose. However, it did remind me of Princes' musical genius.

good answer, I agree with this.
