Multitracks/stems wishlist A couple years ago (or however long ago it was), the multitrack to Let’s Go Crazy was leaked. And it’s amazing to listen to.
I wish i could hear the stems to:
Anna Stesia
Glam Slam
Adore
I Wanna Be Your Lover
Strange Relationship
Thunder
The entire Rainbow Children album so i can mix the entire album myself, making it 100% instrumental (ig except for She Loves Me For Me)
Now what would be even more cool and some stuff that probably doesn’t exist are the multitracks to:
In A Large Room With No Light
Crystal Ball
Wally (since what was released was from a cassette mix, am i correct?)
Which multitracks do wish would just magically leak? [Edited 1/14/22 18:12pm]

"Pop Life"...
Because that "echo" on the lead vocal is actually two seperately recorded vocals, one used as an echo to the other. It'd be fun to switch them, and use the echo vocal as the lead, and the lead as the echo. Also to see if the song continued in some fashion before the boxing match was thrown in there (for what reason I still don't understand it).
I also think it'd be interesting to hear the stems to "U Got The Look," because those keyboard throughout is the same chord progression as on Madhouse's "Eight." And isn't there another song that uses the same synths?
Prince vault notes:
I also think the segue from " No" and "Joy In Repetition" would be fun to hear all the spoken bits.
And totally agree about The Rainbow Children, because it's the only mother tucking way I'll ever listen to it again.
I'd also like to hear the guitar solo on "The Rapture."
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

The Beautiful Ones - The arrangement on record has always thrown me. Dying to hear that. Erotic City Condition of the Heart - every layer is evocative and gorgeous.
Lady Cab Driver - Want to hear that bass alone If I Was Your Girlfriend - there's a quiet keyboard pad in the back that just makes the song, also backwards piano. Adore - those stacked vocals need to be studied.
Dance On - The sound design all over Lovesxy is insane. Forever In My Life - want to remix it to hear what the background vocals sound like synced up w/ the main vox. [Edited 1/15/22 3:23am] |

Most tracks with Clare Fischer backing. As a standout, for me, it'd be There's Others Here With Us. Both the song and the orchestral backing are beautiful, but I'd love to be able to mute the screeching synth which only pains me. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here! |

If I had to pick 1 song from each of his golden era albums 1978-1992 I’d pick the following multitrack stems-
For You - My Love Is Forever
Prince - I Feel for You
Dirty Mind - Uptown
Controversy - Annie Christian
1999 - Automatic
Purple Rain - Computer Blue (preferably the hallway speech version)
ATWIAD - Pop Life
Parade - Girls & Boys
SOTT - Adore
Lovesexy - I Wish U Heaven
Batman - Vicky Waiting
Graffiti Bridge - Joy in Repetition
Diamonds and Pearls - Willing and Able
- Love 2 the 9s [Edited 1/15/22 7:56am] |

Thunder is an awesome song, imo. Never got why he didn't perform it more or why fans give it shit. It's one of his most random album openers too but I dig it. Plus it's got tons of harmonies. |

Probably most of that darned 'black album'.
It's such a murky mix.
All except W2RIL & BG.
Especially "2NU4WC" "Whatever skin we're in

Now that's an excellent idea! Agreed. Talk about a record that needs Bernie Grundman remaster, that's the one! And frankly Lovesexy, because as murky as TBA is, Lovesexy is too biting on the other side. BG cleaned up Dirty Mind remaster quite nicely for what is arguably a demo album. I think he could do wonders with The Black Album.

You’re in luck: the Extended Version on the UK Pop Life 12” and His Majesty’s Pop Life compilation is the original full length track, without the boxing match in the middle. |

I've heard both mixes. Do we know that UK mix is the original? I'm not saying it's not. I just forget the reference. I suppose I'm more confused by that 20 seconds of crap, than anything else.
Still wanna hear both those vocals, tho.

Unless it was made from one vocal track, which I think is likely for the majority of the song. I think the chorus and some "Pop Life"'s might exist on an additional track the way he did a row of "Let Go Crazy's" but that's not what you're hoping for.
I think they also doubled up the drums, and piano just slightly unless it's a filter. Vocals could have been run through a filter too now that I think about it. Getting the tracks so we can find out is still still cool.

It's wasn't. The lead vocal and echo on "Pop Life" is two different vocal recordings. He basically created his own echo. If you really listen, you can hear differences in them.
A lot of artists will double track a lead vocal. Even Kurt Cobain did it in Nirvana. But to use another one as an echo...well, that's what's great about it.
It's Prince just being Prince.

Any track.
Anyway, you'll be waiting a long time. I know that the multi of Let's Go Crazy went for a hell of a lot of money about 10 years ago before it became more widely available. |

Possibly, but most of it's identical and doesn't hint to another vocal, and like I said, the stem we do have shows how he did the same trick.

Look sis, people have verified it. So you're on your own trying to argue a different point. Duane Tudahl noted this in his book, Prince and the Purple Rain Studio Sessions 1983-1984, on the Sunday, February 19, 1984 entry:
"Prince was a little more experimental than usual with his vocals, putting what sounded like a slight delay—but was actually a different take of the vocals—on one of the channels. This surreal audio effect was only on his main vocal; the background vocals were not given the same treatment."
I'm taking his word - a man who went above and beyond to research just these sort of details that Prince fans enjoy scrapping over - over anyone else's.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Yeah, it's purely all a wish list. Those things don't just come out, so the fact that LGC is out there, for whatever reason, is an anomoly, not a new standard of leaks.
