When did Prince stop baring his chest onstage?

A very serious and vital question that just popped into my mind. When did Prince stop getting his kit off on stage? Those days of Dirty Mind, Parade and Lovesexy when he'd strut about in a state of toplessness?

.

Was it post Diamonds & Pearls? Something that coincided with a spritual change? Did it happen at the same time he stopped cussing?

.

Who's got the facts for me?

Because he has a hairy chest and hairy isn't considered sexy anymore by the masses. I blame the Bitchendale Dancers for starting the waxed body epidemic. lol

If I want something hairless, I'll buy a chihuahua or some other hairless dog to look at. To me, hairy chests are all that and then some, the lack of is freakish in my eyes and is too similar to the look of young kids. Y'all can have the hairless adult teen wannabes lol

That is a strange, hairless comment.

He still had long hair around 2000 and even in 2001 on the TRC album cover (and in that picture sitting courtside at a Toronto Raptors game with his wife). The shorter haircut he had during the ONA tour came right after that phase.

That´s one interesting observation and , coming from you, very much expected. lol

Another theory is that his chest hair started becoming gray and that´s why he kept it shorter and covered by that huge necklace he had.

I guess I associate the pigtails with Joy Fantastic, and forget how close that was to 2001.

I may be wrong, but I don't think he quit showing it because it had fallen out of fashion. (When did he ever care what everyone else was doing????) He was getting older, in his 50's and was much thinner, with his muscle mass diminishing. Notice he started wearing those long tunic shirts then. They even covered up his fantastic tush and we all know how spectacular that once was.

As the human body ages, great shape for your age will still not keep you looking like a 25 year old. I know, as Prince and I are of the same generation...we grew up at the same time on the earth. That might be a little TMI for ya, but there it is. My opinion.

Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...

Or maybe the moment just didn't call for it. Maybe a mid-50s year old man didn't need to be shirtless on stage because he's a different person than the naked one at a bar in Paris in 1981. He wasn't looking for, and didn't need to find, the edge anymore to see how close he could get to it.

Even Mick Jagger finally conceded to keeping his shirt on in concert, albeit about 30 years too late, IMO.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Except Prince was still baring his chest on-stage in 2011 as documented above.
