Prince's Early Musical and Artistic Development

I am trying to find the the best information (books, podcasts) on Prince's artistic development before he became famous...please give me your suggestions so I can go track them down.

PS. I recently read in an article that Prince studied Ballet while in High School...at the same school he performed for "Making of Rain" benefit concert. I had never heard that before..makes sense because of how he moves...I just never knew he did that and would like to know more about how he developed his musicianship etc.

There is a documentary called "Northside" (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and it goes deep into that very thing.

Books on Prince by Per Nilsen are a good source.

'Nothing Compares 2 U' by Touré, if you like the writing style.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
