Most drug users don't purposely overdose to die. They just want more and more, a bigger high, and eventually go one step too far.

The thing with Prince's situation isn't that it was an overdose in that regard. It was that his pills were laced with Fentanyl - a bootleg like you mentioned - which even a little is enough to knock your ass out, or kill you.

So yes, the bootleg pill part is the real cautionary tale.

PS to the trolling OP, the war on drugs, started by Nancy bitch Reagan, was a pointed attack on urban neighborhoods and people of color. She didn't give a shit about getting crack out of the neighborhoods. It was the U.S. who put them there in the first place. But how convenient for her, as a first lady with a cause, to suddenly go after the very situation the same government her husband ran created in the first place.

The whole industry around pain management and narcotics needs more light shined on it, but as far as Prince goes, it's not like he wasn't surrounded by cautionary tales everywhere he looked. He wasn't trusting or naive, he knew about fetanyl on the streets. The rest is pretty close to an unsolved story.

I believe he was in pain for a long time, this was talked about for many years....even back in the 90s!


I believe he was too proud to get treatment or pain management in his own name. For a long time it was legal to have a prescription under a proxy name... as long as there was no insurance fraud. So he was good for a long time.


But at some point that ended and he still was not willing to seek proper treatment. So he used alternative means to get pain relief (I do believe it was always for pain management). And as the criminals who provide them got greedy and careless he ended up with at least 2 bad pills. (when the make them they get the fentanyl and mix them with fillers and press them into tablets but if they do not mix it properly some pill have way too much and that is likely what happened).

I know this fool is a troll, but let's address the ridiculous points just for fun: Prince never lost his fame and is more famous than ever since his death. Drugs did not diminish that even slightly. He had plenty of money. The drugs he was taking wouldn't have put a dent in his fortune because they're cheap and easy to find. If Cletus over in the rural trailer park can afford to OD on Fentanyl then Prince would have felt no financial hardship there. Judith Hill sat across from him while his eyes rolled back in his head on that airplane from an OD. He didn't lose her or any of the other women in his life from that time. He changed his women as soon as the limerence phase wore off WAY before his opioid drug use began. By all accounts his life-long charitable giving would have depleted his fortune far more than his odioids ever could. As for his health, his hip/general pain from performing and repetitive motion injuries are what CAUSED him to take the drugs. The jacked up hip is behind him not being able to do the splits, not opioids. I know you're a troll/idiot, but opioids are NOT linked to hip disease. I think a far better strategy would be to completely stop the war on drugs as the failure it has always been. That and outlawing opioids.
