You know what would go great with the re-release of TGE?

I think the estate should release the official video of P Control. We've only seen a small clip of it on YouTube years ago so the video has to exist right? Anyhow I think that will make a great addition to this re-release.

Come on, man, you really couldn't just add this to the ongoing discussion of the Gold Experience re-release? It really deserved its own thread?

lol

Is this news? This reminds me of the time The Daily Mail reported pictures of a few Man United 'reserve team' footballers just hanging outside a shop, tying up shoelaces and sharing food items. The world of news is now no news.

But on topic, any re-release of TGE without first taking a sledgehammer to the shit brickhouse level of overproduction should actually be illegal.

Nonsese.TGE is Prince's last truly brilliant album.Don't get me wrong, there were some good albums that came after it,but not nearly as strong imo.

I agree, I think it's a brilliant album, though I wouldn't say his last by any means. I still struggle to listen all the way through in one sitting, simply because it sounds brickwalled to fuck.

I think in terms of it being maybe his best since the 80's for sure, and I feel it was the most accessible problem was HE WAS NOT accessible at this time, and in battles with Warners, it was the worst time for that. BUT its so subjective as far as what is or was "Great" and greatest, recently I saw this YouTub channel that has a huge following called "Sea Of Tranquility" and usually the show focuses on Hard Rock metal, but also covers Jazz Fusion and classic rock stuff primarily so I was shocked that he was doing a top ten of his favorites from the catalog, and that he pretty much knew all the albums not sure if he owned them all but he had a good knowledge of the records. But the reason I mention subjective, is that "NEWS" AND "Chaos" and "Rainbow Children" are in his top 10 favorites, as is TGE too, along with the usual ones like Sign, and Purple and 1999. I mean I was shocked becuase I know many dislike Rainbow, I am not one of them, to me thats easily in my top 10 as is Chaos also, but I know some fans hate those records.
