Sony new reissues for February 2022 Besides a change of the logo Sony Legacy, nothing new. Come wasn't printed anymore by WB for years though. https://www.cede.ch/de/mu...ng_group=0 https://www.cede.ch/de/mu...d=17650661 https://www.cede.ch/de/mu...d=17650662

- So there's your own answer to your question why the re-issues stopped.
- Again high prices... Will find them a year later in the cheaper crates anyways. Just like i did with all the other re-issues. Maybe a good thing is, PARADE isn't up there... (only the yet 2016 one) Could this be a hint for a future SDE ? Same goes for 'Prince' and 'For You' though...

No... And it was your question, not mine! I predicted as early as February 2021 when a so-called calendar for the estate releases leaked ( W2A in april, Crystal Ball in September, D&P for November) that it was impossible to achieve because of the vinyl crisis. It has been stated one billion times WB is keeping the soundtracks of their movies : Parade, Purple Rain, etc. So it's not a hint of anything if Sony is not writing their label on it : for once in this mess, it's completely logical. For the other albums : it's just a matter of writing the label " Sony Legacy" On the reprints of the albums already in print by WB. WB pushed back his SDEs and Sony his reissues of albums not currently in print because of the " Vinyl crisis" : shortage of raw materials, increasing costs and crazy increasing demand. So a D&P at 13/15 vinyls won't be easy to assemble, to pre order for the plants to print them, and would be far more expensive than the 260$ set for SOTT. Sony will continue his reissues at a low but hyped pace, for the RSD. The long expected Crystal Ball, initially due for the end of 2020, seems currently compromised ( surely a 6 vinyl set), even for an RSD. So I guess this would be a one single disc album never released before in stores such as SlaughterHouse. [Edited 12/7/21 2:59am] [Edited 12/7/21 3:14am]

no Love Symbol, no Diamonds and Pearls... fishy!
no Parade, no Batman, no Grafitti Bridge... understandable due to soundtrack issues?

No Black Album 😭 | |

The prices are insane... 33€ for single disc albums already in stores ( for the moment) for less than 20€...
Who will buy this now at 33,if they didn't when it was at 15/20€ ? I expect a decrease of the sales for this format in 2022, for the first time in 15 years... It's too bad, if things were handled better, that should have been a decrease in price that we would have witnessed, since the number of copies sold has considerably increased that year. Prince too. D&P is expecting his SDE, hence its not on the list. Love symbol is a double album, so maybe too complicated for now. Who will buy it for 50 bucks? That's a tough psychological price. [Edited 12/7/21 4:19am]

I'd consider purchasing them if they added disc art and lyrics to the albums which originally did not have them he might have better luck if he was drummin with his Dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are reissues, not estate releases. I don't know how you all are looking for extras or whatever. This is no different than Emancipation etc coming out on purple vinyl. They're Legacy only. Released as part of his - wait for it - legacy, to have all his catalog on vinyl, freshly re-released, and readily available. No extras, no remasters per se, no bonus material. Just the album was it was, and as it will be again. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

They are but some of the Legacy re-issues had some slightly different content,
Planet Earth, Musicology, 3121, Emacipation, Chaos & Disorder, TRC (from what I could tell identicle other than Sony Legacy / Estate logo and Emancipation being a digipak 1st time vinyl)
Rave (The Ultimate Rave boxset had some exclusive artwork / disc art) One Nite Alone (New box set, New disc art especially on the live discs) The Truth (Actual unseen artwork and first time on vinyl)
Interesting to note that the ones with new content were the last to be released so maybe they thought minor upgrades like this would encourage re-purchasing
I for one would love a lyric booklet in come, or "Prince" reissue with new disc art instead of those "Fingerprint heaven" silver CD's we currently own
So given the above is totally out of the question that some "minor" upgrades may be made?
Also will the re-issue of SOTT use the original WB master or the newer Re-Master he might have better luck if he was drummin with his Dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, odd. Sony/Legacy only has distribution rights for the USA according to the press release, the rights for the rest of the world would stay with Warners. © Bart Van Hemelen

Exact and this is what i said since months & Sony has no rights about Vault Recordings pre 96 always property of WBR !

. Yes, but this is from a Swiss website. So are Sony now getting worldwide rights to the back catalogue (excluding the soundtracks)? Or is this a Swiss site importing all those reissues from the USA (hence the rather absurd prices)? . Also, these are supposed to be out in less than two months and yet this is the first we're hearing about it? © Bart Van Hemelen

These releases do seem to muddy the water with the Sony and WB rights.
One question, wherever Sony has the rights to the back catalogue (US only or worldwide), is this just for the original “master”, i.e. the sound as released? Or do they have access to allow re-mastering, e.g. from the original tracks? Could re-mastering be a whole separate aspect, like the vault tracks? Anyone really know, or was it even thought about when the deal was struck? Edit: Link to Sony/Estate press release about the deal, from June 2018 - https://www.sony.com/cont...82015.html [Edited 12/7/21 16:02pm] There may or may not be something coming!

Then they should remove Prince and Madonna's names.

They are just gonna print a few copies here and there, whenever needed. It's more for the sake of referencing it than to really print it. This website used to show leaks of estate releases before preorders on website such as Amazon. So it could well be US import. Like I said a zillion times, if you're not seeing D&P SDE on this website, do not expect it before 4 months later. [Edited 12/7/21 19:45pm]

Also will the re-issue of SOTT use the original WB master or the newer Re-Master I agree a booklet without lyrics is useless. But the content of the CD/artwork will be exactly the same. No additional content, no "remastering", no lyrics printed... Just a change of label. You really thought they were gonna release 15 albums simultaneously in two months with new artwork? No. I don't think the artist, the labels or even the English speaking fams, give a fuck about the lyrics. Sad, but true. And I don't think Prince gave a shit about a booklet anyway : so many albums in the latter years have none!

For some reasons, they still can't put Come in vinyl. Remember, back in 2016, when Come amd The Black Album were scheduled for a vinyl release then cancelled? Something fishy here about the rights. I never saw Come in stores for like 15 years. When Prince died, wreckastores put loads of every WB albums, besides Come and Chaos. When WB released 4EVER they tried like hell to pick tracks that weren't on any other compilations, such as the edit of Glam Slam, Take Me With U or Batdance. But somehow they couldn't clear the rights for the Come and Chaos singles. Not even the Plectrum Electrum and AOA tracks. The compilation was still labelled as " The first greatest hits spanning Prince's whole career " Or something like that. I already talked about that at the time, nobody here could give a clear answer besides " WB just didn't give a fuck amd that's all".

Although I can agree on the weak sales at some point, true. Still there are many many new vinyl releases every week from my experience. There are approx. 10 record shops I visit quite regularly, and i've never heard any of the owners complain about lack of delivery on time of new or older reissued vinyl releases on their list. They told me that for 2022/2023 there might be a problem due to covid - and that prices might go up. Assumed. Adn maybe me and my local recordstores are wrong too. Anyway. Happy these reissues are about to happen. And thank you for the info on that. Hope it really happens, though I agree with Bart that it probably is some USA import via Switserland. (Mind you all that Switserland isn't in the European Union group) Expensive indeed, more or less the same prices as the previous reissues in fact. So nothing changed. But I'm patient.
