(some) live footage of P&M tour

-

I don't know if it is interesting enough (or even in the right place here),

St. Paul Peterson filmed an 11minutes video medley of PRINCE PERFORMACES (& clips) that was shown in Paisley Park (for a tour incl. some charity work).

This clip shows some never before seen footage of Prince's live performances (appr. the first 6 minutes).

Though he's commenting over it, it still is nice to see and hear.

Even some orignal footage of Prince's last P&M 'tour' that i've never seen before.

-

@StPaulPeterson posted this on instagram on october 4th 2021.

I’m sure you meant last tour, and not last show. That P&M footage is from the paisley park piano and mic shows, both of which were filmed. I wish there was some confirmation on if any of the other P&M performances were filmed. I read a while back that he was going to have the Australian shows shot, but I think that fell through.

indeed. Last tour! (will correct it)

Thank you for the info.

Let's hope they release that in the near future.

Would be great to have it streamed up first, and then available later on via his official Youtube page.

That would be wonderful, but i guess i'm dreaming out loud. wink

I thought Prince normally (basically) always filmed his shows, to be able to look at it and make adjustments...

Would be strange that the Australian leg of the tour wouln't be filmed though.

We'll have t wait and see.

-

The footage shown here by St Paul Peterson are very promissing tbh !

I was longing so much for the ''Parade SDE'',

but now i want more than anything these last TOUR performances on DVD (and on viny/CDl of course).

That indeed would be a great surpise by The Estate if they ever get to it.

-

Hell... And why not an additional disc of the unfinished(?) last album he worked on with MonoNeon (amongst others)...

Damn.

Also nice to see that he had sort of an Ipad on his piano with the lyrics rolling over it.

Wow, they all sound great to me. I really like Mike Scott´s and Jellybean´s guitar solos in the videos but St.Paul sounds amazing, too. Christian Matthew Cullen and Jerry Hubbard...just wow.Tight "band" and wonderful renditions. I wasn´t even aware of these videos on his page. Too bad I missed out on the P&M videos, they´ve been deleted.

Thanks for sharing !

They are so tight. And their sound is also spot on !

If they should ever tour, i would prefer these huys over The NPG any time.

It's also good to hear Eric Leeds on sax again in ''Muriny''.

Sooooo good these FunkFriday's. smile

Waiting for FunkFriday'87... shall it be SOTT ? wink

I sorta wondered what they're going to do tomorrow (later today). 1987 - I am sorta hoping for "U Got The Look" or "Housequake." But the stinger would be "Strange Relationship." We'll see soon enough.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yeah. biggrin

I now listened to all their FunkFriday's... and my god, even way back in time, they are capable of still sounding this tight.

Their sound is just so fantastic.

Could've been thé new band for today's Prince if he was still amongst us.

Just imagine that... or better, compare this shit with 3rdEyeGirl. wink

I thought the same while listening to them.....and felt a bit sad how he, despite reconciling with many people before he passed away still never fully reconciled with those folks in the videos, or rather, never really played with them again. Despite being an online rendition they sound superb.

And St.Paul Peterson.... I knew he was talented but I didn´t know how versatile he was. Wow.

.

I had never heard about the Funky Friday sessions until I saw them mentioned here on your thread. Where did you listen to the sessions? Are they just those short bits on Instagram, or a podcast ?

Thanks again for sharing, very much appreciated.

Only on @StPaulPeterson on Instagram.

I wish they all were longer.

But still very fun to listen to.

It's not only the nostalgia that comes form it, but the fantastic sound !

I mean, Album worthy, live performances worthy, Prince worthy.

High end Minneapolis quality, vastly underrated tbh.

-

I actually have no idea if they have a YT chanel or Soundcloud or whatever else maybe... going to check that out too.

Yeah, they are only those short segments on Instagram.

Paul doesn't a video and audio podcast called On The Run. He's talked to a lot of folks, from Debbie Gibson to Michael B. The videos are on YouTube. The podcast is on most podcast providers.

Looks like today's Funk Friday #87 celebrated "Sign 'O' The Times" from 1987. It's only him, Oliver Lieber, and one other guy.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
