First Steps Made in Congress to Honor Pop Superstar Prince

Did this break the org?

NEW YORK -- Minnesota's Congressional delegation on Monday is introducing a resolution to posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to pop superstar Prince, citing his "indelible mark on Minnesota and American culture,” The Associated Press has learned.

The Org broke a long time ago for several reasons.

But this is great news. I hope it goes through.

Exactly.

And how would our Prince reacted to this then you think ?

He probably would've send Sheila or Hannah... lol

No just kidding.

I mean, he probably would've made some fuzz out of it for sure, for whatever reason.

It is great news though.

Great recognition well deserved.

Although I have no idea how this 'honor' will turn out.

I've called and spoke to my local senator and encouraged them to support this monumental commendation of Prince's(r.i.p.) talent, cultural impact, and historical LEGACY! for my favorite artist & entertainer PRINCE ROGERS NELSON(r.i.p.).

I saw that on twitter earlier today, excuse my ignorance though, what does a confessional honor entails? Is it just a tribute or does it protect his intellectual property in some form? I’m not from the US, so be patient with my inquiry smile

The Congressional Gold Medal is an award bestowed by the United States Congress. It is Congress's highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions by individuals or institutions. ... U.S. citizenship is not a requirement.

If I understand it correctly, citizens can contact their state's representatives to votes yes on the bill. I'm not sure when it's slated to be voted on.

I mean...Prince desrves all the accolades, but I have mixed feelings about The State getting in on the action.

I just want all of America to listen to Erotic City.

I even think without (enough?) votes, this might pass.

Why propse the idea in the first place?

To have it end in dissapointmet ?

Like, naaaah, rather not...

That would be a mistake.

-

Did anyone actully didn't get the medal?

I'm European, have no idea about this thing...

It needs a 2/3 vote in Congress to pass.

Then it will never happen. Half of those people have probably never even heard of Prince- those like McConnel, Pelosy, Shumer, etc.

Oh I seem to remember that Nancy Pelosi mentioned Prince once, somewhere...

Can't find it though. But she liked his music, something liek that, that I do remember.

Her son in law is a Dutch journalist, and somewhere in that context I remember that.
