So, what's the argument here again? There's "we only know the title" examples in Soladeo's speculative list too. And the list of songs above... half of those had leaked, a quarter we knew only a title, and a quarter we could guess existed because he did guide vocals for everything.
Yep - the only completely unknown track was "It B's Like That Sometimes".
Exactly! |

We didn't know it would be so different from Sheila's version, but we knew it existed. |

But they hadn't surfaced on boots even in insider networks. Certainly closer to the official release, things leaked.
In many cases, only the titles were known.

The arguement is that these releases HAVE had many completely fresh outtakes on them to 99% of Prince fanatics. And most likely, a D&P set would too. |

maybe, but it's a different story when said man was still dating teenagers while in his late 20's/early 30's. just saying... |

Nah it isn't a different story. It's the same story regardless of what other sexual conquests the person went on to have. |

Not really. A 30-something year old dude singing about his teenage sexual conquests becomes creepier in the context of him pursuing girls around that age range well over a decade later. |

'Schoolyard' is an inconsequential song likely to be misinterpreted in the current climate. Songs like 'Open Book', 'Get Blue' and 'Player' are where it's really at. |

It's the same story no matter what happened after. And it's one most people can relate to, lmao. Of any generation. |

According to Michael Bland in this interview with the Current, the Prince Estate definitely are working on a reissue of the Diamonds and Pearls album. A full transcript appears under the video, for those of you who would rather read than listen: https://www.thecurrent.or...56qDNkXeLA |

I like Gett Off, and I understand the completist mentality to have all versions collected in this volume... but with that said, I personally don't need 15 versions of one song.

I think every member of the Org should be required to read or listen to this interview. Not because I care about Diamonds & Pearls (I don't). But for the conversation between Michael and Tommy about their conflicting memories.
There have been countless times I've read stories on the Org where two Prince associates give different details about a songs recording. The assumption here is always that one of them is *lying*. I'm not talking about the times when former associates give themselves more credit for the creation of a song (they may indeed have motivate to misstate things). I'm talking about the times people are merely describing neutral events. They're not trying to make themselves look better -- they simply have different stoies.
I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Memory is incredibly failable. You're asking people about stuff that happened decades ago. Not only that, but with Prince's hectic recording style, of course memories would blend together and get confused. Michael and Tommy make this crystal clear.

That Tommy B, Michael B interview was one of the best I’ve seen from any associates.
Despite this being my least favourite era, their honesty is so refreshing. Not a hint of ego. The Tommy B story about ‘Old Friends 4 Sale’ and Michael’s addressing the ‘hip-hop’ question is wonderful to hear.
There’s so much to learn here about Prince and his ways of working. And I’ve read nearly every book and read most of the epic threads here on the org. |

Not only memory but the lack of studio documents. Duane Tudahl has made great use of the Sunset Sound archival documents to give us detailed timelines. But, when Prince was recording worldwide, did anyone keep "carbons" of those documents for Paisley's auditing purposes? What kind of documeentation was maintained for Paisley's studios (besides writing song titles on canisters).
Even in Tudahl's latest book there are memory conflicts in what certain people told Duane and what they said in previous interviews (primarily Susannah).
The studio documents with their dates, times and personnel are the best way to jog memories of things that occured 30+ years ago. I hope there's something to continue the archival records into some semblance of continuity.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me. |

I think, if nothing else, tapes have a date. But as long as the Estate will go on with this nonsense about NDA's and keeping the results of their inventory secret, that information is lost. We also know for a fact that some musicians kept logs about the sessions they attended, that some of them were pleased to share with researchers. |
