No matter if it's D&P or Parade or Controversy it will sell the same amount.

Considering the huge price of these SDE, only (rich) fans can afford them.

I agree. I think a D&P would sell way better than Parade. D&P is an excellent album containing three of the biggest singles of his career. That tour was amazing as well, and would make for a great included Blu-ray concert. I don't get the hate on D&P...

What's "the good stuff"???

Anything from the 1980s. Preferrably "Dirty Mind" or "Controversy" first but I know that wouldn't be realistic because most people want "Parade", which I would be fine with also. "Around The World In A Day", "The Black Album", or "Lovesexy" would be cool too. Hell, even "Prince" or "For You" but I doubt those two would have much unreleased material surrounding them.

Totally.

I think D&P SDE will be a massive flop for the estate. Many fans do not regard this album highly. It's one of those albums that sold well at the time, but history does not look back on kindly.

I disagree that D&P SDE will be a flop. I know a
lot of people who bought D&P as the one and only Prince album.
D&P has a lot of good music which is still frequently played even
at local radio stations, like D&P itself, Cream and
Money Dont Matter 2Nite.

And i really dont see the point of those people
always mentioning a Dirty Mind or Controversy SDE instead.
I believe those SDEs would be a flop and so this wont happen anytime soon i guess.

What radio station played -- or is STILL playing?! -- Money Don't Matter? I don't think I ever heard that most boring of all Prince songs on the radio.

You are all completely delusionnal.
Like I said for the last 8 months, is that D&P won't be released this year.

Then what's the point of this thread? Are you gonna celebrate D&P birthday for the next 6 months? biggrin

Then why don't you celebrate Controversy's 40th birthday too?

Then, like I said too, D&P SDE won't be a "flop" Or a "success". Considering the huge price, only hardcore amd rich fans will be able to afford it.

This is even more true for the LP collector's : by the time this will be released, vinyl price will have increased a lot. And according to numerous sources, WB is the record company that will charge the most.

So this would be even more expensive than SOTT, unless they squizz the ludicrous 5 LP's of Cream and Gett Off Remixes.

There are still a lot of W2A in stores and shipments, so they want to sell these before releasing another thing.
This is the Sony/estate priority.

By the way, Purple Rain is re-released in November for Taget exclusively. It was fast out of print in preorders from all over the world. They are now printing new ones to be available in stores for the casual consumers who wants to make a gift for Christmas.

That is the current estate/WB priority
.

Metaphor? Feels rather straight forward to me.

Or that her lovemaking was -- depending on the country where it occurred -- incredibly expensive.

I would love to know the Estate's reaction to Michael Bland spilling the beans saying they're working on a Diamonds and Pearls reissue. They're so tight-lipped about everything, I wonder if they're pissed at him or do they just shrug it off...

I believe he did not reveal anything special.

The Estate is working on different projects all the time.

They said exactly that various times in various interviews.

Nothing new here.

much as i respect and like michael bland, and the other early npg members, it is weird to hear them say things about how they were the best band he had had, or they could do things other prince bands up til then couldnt, when the band that preceded them was basically the 87/88 band. i mean, the npg were good, for sure, and they were def different to princes other bands, but they could do things that the SOTT/lovesexy band couldnt? idk. confused

the estate will post about many things.

doesnt mean they are all going to become SDE releases.

I never "loved" the song either, but it's fine in the context of the album.

They gave this one a lot of attention, with a Spike Lee video (weren't there two videos?). Maybe it was topical for the Desert-Storm era?

It's a missed opportunity if they don't release D&P SDE this year. I'm sure a 30th anniversary release will get lots of attention.

no one cares about anniversaries that much.

the SOTT SDE came out in 2020, which was no anniversary year, and yet it still made a big mark.

so all will be okay.

I don't know about you, but I'd resigned myself to this year's SDE being Diamonds & Pearls because of the 30th Anniversary, and I'm going to be a little pissed if it's still the next release, when far more deserving albums like Parade, Lovesexy, insert-practically-any-title-here haven't yet had the same treatment.
