Nope. I absolutely do not. Haven't had time to Google.
Be nice to your elders.

EDIT: Googled. Still don't recognize him or his output.

Trivial is prit-tee old, I think, so there is no way you're much older. Q Tip was on Prince's MPLSound album, it's flagship single, and is a hip hop legend who still releases and produces hits.

Thank you!
But I'm sure Trivial is much younger than I am. Very sure. I've only known one Purple Fam older than I am.
MPLSound is one I paid a premium for (the 2-CD set) but not as expensive as TGE or The Black Album.

Well now you have to tell us how old you are, surely?

I was 40 when SOTT came out. So there. I win!

when this came out
I was off and away from the P. fascination

life happened

I lked thunder though
daddy pop was way too strong ansd ugly self love
D & P was very bold, I liked that

the rest of the album is brilliant though
P seemed to be back in the ring, and giving it a lot

still I was distracted

LOL. I'm straight n a touch macho but I love his looks
such a fine, interesting man

and the hologram thing was a bit annoying but yeah it got him publicity.

small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

thunder and MNIP are prob the two corniest opening songs of any prince album.

though i can like them in a sort of big, gratuitous, slightly silly kind of way

id like if for this album, they did something a bit different to the format theyve used so far.

how about an alternative version of the album, i.e. alternate takes, with no raps, a sort of reimagining of the album. that would be controversial, but also prob be good for PR. ill bet there are many mixes and versions of the album tracks that prince made that are probably sitting there in the vault.

and then another disc or two of the outtakes.

there has to be some cool stuff that most people do not know about.

another huge SDE with every remix and edit etc, that would just be really, really tiresome and boring for an album like this.

If there was going to be a SDE of such a monumental Prince release, it would have leaked weeks ago. We knew about SOTT SDE months prior and so I'm not that surprised today.

Well it was rumoured to be the next Super deluxe at the same time as Welcome 2 America was rumored.

If that was the case, I think we would have still seen or heard more. Who knows. Maybe it will be the SDE. I would like for that to be the case.

We're too close to the holidays for ANY SDE announcement.

They've missed the 40th anniversaries of his first four albums, released the 40th of 1999 too early and now the 30th of D&P.
Think they've figured out that the 40th anniversary of Purple Rain is coming up in 2024?

They're doing about two releases a year in conjunction with Sony. The SOTT SDE was a pretty big deal so that was sort of its own thing that year. But W2A is back to a semi-regular schedule. There's clearly not going to be a fall release, unless they announce soon so it's a Christmas or January release.

Time will tell. I'm not overly thrilled with a D&P release. It's not a great album, but it's a very good album. (Better when I cut Tony M. out of about 95% of it.) Parade seems more logical before D&P.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Warner owns the soundtracks in perpetuity which means they could set the schedule for everyone else. Sony could be waiting for whatever happens with Parade so there's no conflicts.

Parade's 35th was this year. Missed.

Yeah I thought D&P was just their last project hurrah on the non soundtrack albums. I'm indifferent on D&P itself other than the fact I like the outtakes a LOT. And really, I can wait for Parade. So much 85-86 material burn out since SOTT...

I agree. It should be at least 3 new releases a year and there's definitely enough stuff in the vault that they can make available for purchase on a new npgmusicclub website. It's a shame if we don't get D&P SDE this year.

so each time they release a stand alone album or compilation we are not getting an SDE?

at this rate it's going to be 2050 before we have all albums reissued with bonus tracks confused

The Originals + 1999 SDE was a good match.

I was hoping in a Welcome 2 America + D&P SDE.

I don't love D&P, but I oblivious have interest in unreleased music.

I'm getting old.

Worse than that: even if you go with the conservative number of 39 studio albums, we're talking about 2056 here (at the rate of one Deluxe or Super Deluxe Edition per album and per year). lol

.

This is funny and ridiculous at the same time.

A streaming video available only on Apple.

This was just each of the songs on the D&P album being played. Might as well put you own album on.

Is this counting the inevitable Purple Rain Super Re-Deluxe that comes out in a few years because they half-assed the first one? lol

I edited Tony M. out of 98% of Diamonds and Pearls and prince. There are tiny moments where I couldn't get rid of him, but his presence is greatly diminished. He's just another player when I got done with him.

One thing I noticed when I took him out was that these songs were done and complete before. His sections, mostly near the end of a lot of songs, were tag endings; parts just thrown on the end for him to vomit his "talent."

In things like "Gett Off" or "The Max," I simply took the instrumental part of that song (from the intro or another mix) and overdubbed it on top of his part, then quickly cross-faded back to the album version. It virtually erased him from those songs. In other things like "The Flow," "My Name is Prince," "Love 2 The 9s," etc., I simply edited his section out totally (same with songs like "Daddy Pop" or "Push.")

The albums became much more cohesive and succinct when I took him out.

o

a big musical switch into the 90s with some great moments on it (mainly the singles... Gett Off never fails to get me up and dancing) but the production can be overbearing at times. some people dislike Tony M but his rap bits make sense on the context of the album (not saying they are memorable or anything)

overall I feel like the prince album offers a better blend of musical styles and is a more interesting listen than D&P
