The first one that comes to mind is from Hate U: I hope U have some baby if not boo hoo. Boo hoo? Is that the best you could think of? For the rest it's a great song. And I agree with your example, I also found that strange. If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

Damn U The whole song, pretty much. A cringe fest.

ouch! i dont mind damn u, but i love the music, its just the lyrics arent as beautiful as the music, theyre a bit facile.

lol. i thought the boo hoo line fit the slightly soap opera-ish, trashy erotic drama vibe of the song.

“You’d get beheaded in other lands” (the violence doesn’t fit the tone of the song at all) “Accurate knowledge of Christ and the father will bring the everlasting now” (‘accurate knowledge’ has got to be the weirdest and least exciting phrase ever put in a chorus of a song) “When she’s making love it’s like surgery” (enough said)

As if a girl wearing a short skirt is asking to get raped. It also makes me think of Lolita where he sings: "you'll never make a cheater out of me." These songs portray him as a good man and the girl who tries to seduce him as evil. And everything that happens to her is her own fault. I love these two albums, but I always found this part a little disturbing to say the least. After Prince became a JW, he had some pretty strange beliefs. If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

lol i dont mind this one too much, just cos the whole song paints a not so nice POV of delores, so these lines fit the song overall.
its when a weird comes in from nowhere that ruins the song for me

its when a weird comes in from nowhere that ruins the song for me That's fair enough,it just really grates me. The word Brontosaurus should never be in a song haha!😂

Compassion. Just that word in the song, as a chorus. Don’t know why, I just find it silly. Champagne from a glass with chocolate handles. Why on earth? P didn’t drink, obviously.

Future Baby Mama is a very nice song but the lyrics are pretty damn savage in relation to his past marriages.

"Sex in the summer, getting it on
Give me that number, we can party all night long Checking for bikinis, laying in the sand Rub it like a genie, living while we can" "W-w-w-dot-emale-dot-com" "Do it like she like it So your baby don't want to sleep around Give her what she want when she want When it come to you, she down" "Let's go down to the holy river If we drown then we'll be delivered" These are songs that I actually like, but the chorus lyrics are just stupid IMO. And I love "Deliverance", but the opening line "This is not religion, but common sense" is just ridiculous to me. I almost forgot: "The year is 2020 and there's no more fear" 😄 [Edited 8/3/21 14:02pm] NPG Radio:

The whole song is a WB metaphor...WB (Delores) was a greedy, dated and boring dinosaur for creativity. Love the lyrics as a whole.

Love the song "She Loves Me 4 Me" but these lyrics are cringy: "This one I can take over my mamma's house

Sex in the summer is def one of his dumbest but more than that, least convincing hooks ever. The line in better with time though where it ends up with prince paying himself a compliment I think ruined the song 'And since only one of us Still looks the same Your words not mine, baby' Wtf.

I always found "she's the reason for my sexuality" a bit odd. It's kinda ambiguous, what exactly does he mean? Does he like incest now, is she the reason he's a hypersexual person? Who knows....
Also the line in the morning papers (It's one of my favorite songs, but this one line)
If he poured his heart into a glass

But by “tone” I meant the breezy, whimsical melody. Together the music and lyrics don’t really work ironically at all, don’t really have synergy, and so the violent lyrics come across as excessive and jarring.

The rape line in the original "Extralovable". I wouldn't really miss it if it weren't there and I would have had a pristine remastered version in my collection now... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

"She don't like no beef' is a joke. He is saying she is a vegetarian but also beef means trouble. So he is saying she is no drama either. It's a play on words.

The lines in Extralovable and Lust U Always that meant they didn't get included on the 1999 boxset.
