If you're going to be so graphic as he did, U might as well dress it up with some exaggeration! "A trickle..." or "A smatter..." would be too clinical and MORE creepy, IMO.

LOL--the one & only lyric of that song that makes it unfit for general mixed-company consumption, IMO.

Compassion. Just that word in the song, as a chorus. Don’t know why, I just find it silly.

Champagne from a glass with chocolate handles. Why on earth? P didn’t drink, obviously.

why don't you like that?

In my opinion the word "aftershow" does not fit into the context, it's just lazy. I understand that it can also be interpreted in such a way that it fits, but for me he should have worked more on this line. It nearly ruins this wonderful and unusual song for me.

Could that be a JW reference:

"Spirits come, spirits go

Some stick around for the aftershow"?

If so, then I can totally see it. I'm forgetting the song origin, though.

neutral

[Returns--] oh! "Welcome 2 the Dawn"

>

I think I nailed it, and found the fitting interpretation. It was the Prince of the time--even if you weren't with him conceptually, I feel it was his essential personal sentiment.

Exactly...I always thought this was wicked clever and weirdly sexy in an "only Prince" kinda way. And it was truly his mood at the time regarding post-9/11 America.

I promised myself not to come until she does

And she took both hands and a liar I was

No man in this world could ever hope to last

When my baby downshifts

And Starts pumpin' fast

I actually really like this song espcially playing hide and seek in the thunderstorm,

but verse 2 is just too much for me. I always skip to the next song at this point.

"You could just page me" from Somewhere Here On Earth.

That line sounded dated even in 2007. Nice song apart from that though.

I was listening to Dreamin'about U and thought of this thread. I love everything about that song except for the "every time I do what I need to do" line. I don't need that in my head.

I was playing this track for a GF once upon a time; it sounded like a typical late 80s syrupy ballad and she was all "oh this is nice!". And then that 2nd verse hit and she had an about face lol I was rolling.

+1 for those completely unnecessary lines in "Extraloveable". I don't care what anyone says, they add absolutely nothing to the song and kill the playfully sexy vibes.

I really like the song overall, it's upbeat and a good one to wash the dishes or clean up to. I don't even mind the lines about fixing your hair up or shaving your legs. Although, if Prince loved me he shouldn't mind my hair like a burst cushion or leg hair that you could plait once in a while but it's (immaculate) Prince so I'll give him a pass, haha.

I love rude/innuendo Prince and maybe it's me as an older woman or him as an older man but the creamy line,,,, no.

Does the fact he is talking about Madonna change that at all?

Ok, this line has ALWAYS bugged me as a sports fan. The line from “Acknowledge Me” where he says “It’s 4th and goal and I ain’t about to punt”. Ok now. Anyone who knows football knows that if it’s 4th and goal, you’d NEVER punt. You would consider kicking a field goal. Or maybe going for it. But you’d never punt. He should have said “It’s 4th and 1, and I ain’t about to punt” and that would be perfectly accurate. But goal?!? C’mon P! You’re a better sports fan then that…
