Who did this Haunting version of "When Doves Cry"?

https://www.youtube.com/user/Sinnik22

.

.

.

This is the most haunting version of "When Doves Cry" that I have ever heard. Starts right around 0:35 into it and goes to about 1:46, so a little over a minute. Please share the artist and album if you know...a youtube link would be great. Frankly any info on it would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to find it but could not. The video is the 2 minute trailer: ONCE UPON A TIME IN MINNE... [TRAILER]

.

.

Also in the video..I just love the clip where David Bowie goes "Interesting" in response to the MTV VJ saying "Prince would scare foks in the Mid-west."

.

.

And finally, if you haven't yet made your acquaintance with Sinnik22 and his documentaries on youtube...on Prince, Michael Jackson and soon Stevie Wonder...you are missing out.

Edit...It includes Prince's original..the Choir of 1999..I think there is one more..a children's choir of some sort.

It’s really really gorgeous. I’d venture to say it would be an amazing bonus track at the end of a Purple Rain super deluxe. The only cover id ever suggest because it turns Prince’s masterpiece into a landscape that we all share.

It doesn't belong on there at all. Purple Rain is a soundtrack, not a karaoke or cover album.

TrivialPursuit..living up to your name I see biggrin Yes you are right. There is a part though at 1:14 to the end at 1:46 where the tension rises and it sounds like a children's choir... it could be the another version or it could be the same choir which Sinik22 processed with effects.

Yeah, before putting this on Purple Rain, I would say Sex Shooter , Jungle Love and other songs in the movie should go there. I could definitely see this on a cover or tribute album though.

The last thing we need is a tribute album. I'm honestly sick and beyond tired of hearing people cover "Purple Rain" or "Nothing Compares 2 U," as if Prince has no other song anyway.

Party O The Times, and other such "tribute" albums have been horrible.

Sure, the choir sounded great. They do a lot of those, and it's always moving to hear an ocean of voices singing anything. But an album of that - nope.

Well...

Not on the album,

...but why not an extra with these kind of remixes.

I for one would love that too !

And yes it does sound nice to me too - i agree on that DonRants.

I believe Prince's hits all deserve a make-over by the best contemporary artists and producers out there right now.

I do believe it can make a bridge to the youngsters, and keep his legacy alive and fresh(er) for those who still did not discover Prince, etc.

I've saying this for years even.

Vannormal, it was horrid. The Black Eye Peas on those remixes... it was fucking rancid. I despise spending money on it, but I'm happy about it being remastered, and the nice packaging. I never even ripped those blasphemous tracks to my hard drive.

Wow. Thank you. smile

I for one never liked the Black Eyed Peas.

-

I prefer more sofisticated produceres and remixers,

those artists that have a heart for Prince's funk.

like Tom Mish, Joran Rakei, Marc Ronson,

Why not even Roisin Murphy, Arca, Hot Chip, Beck,

hell even Rick Rubin or Tom Yorke, or that guy from The National...

And a lot of other more contemporary names i can't get to right now (these were just poppin' up in my head, and it's 6 AM)

wink))

Sure, It can work, or it can blow it.

Kinda agree.

They don't necessarily need to be on a deluxe version.

They could easily be released as promotion tools via downloads or streams,

and see what they do, how they are received.

Like that Shep Pettibone remix of "Strange Relationship"?

Or that remix of "Cosmic Day"?

Both on the SOTT SD.

I think that the song Cosmic Day included in the SOTT Super Deluxe box is an early studio version, not a remix.

True... and I also meant new remixes for today's market like Michael Jackson's post humous albums have suffered from. smile
