New marketing promotion for W2A? The song has gained 50k views on YT in a day, instead of the usual 6k. Was there a documentary broadcasted somewhere yesterday about the album? Are there some events about it somewhere in the world?

Why hasnt Sony released a music video? How hard (or expensive) wud it be to cobble together some footage with a creative director?

That's obviously not a music video.

I know and they know it too. And yes, the podcast was good for promotion with his base, but a slick music video for each of "singles" is another form of promotion and might've reached other potential markets.

Now about 70k in 24 hours, when When Doves Cry never does no more than 40k.. Before the release of the album, it did 2600 views/ a day, then during the week of release, reached the 10k mark/aday. Then it decreased to 6k. Now, 70k, it s like it has been re-released again. A friend of mine told me he saw a "video" Of Born 2 Die in a great french channel the week of the album's release. Mzybe there are tv adds somewhere, I don't know, but it's impossible the song has got such an increase without a push. Why now?

I did like the Manic Monday one though. They cut it to look like he was actually singing it.

Yeah, I really loved Holly Rock. I hoped they would do another one like that for another track of Oroginals. It was strange too for Holly Rock on YouTube : it reached the 600 k mark very fast in 4 days, then stopped completely all of a sudden. Looked like a bot too.

Soon the million views...
This is such an unnatural jump, without new comments, I m sure now it s the estate paying a bot. Maybe to be nominated at some awards, that needs at least a song at a certain number of views. Or else I can't see why 5 months later they would need that particular jump in views. [Edited 8/23/21 5:28am] [Edited 8/23/21 5:28am]

Only if you closed your eyes. Yeah. That video and the NC2U one are the most embarrassing, awful, disgusting, pathetic, disrespectful thing they could do. They make Prince look like a damn fool. It's likely pointless to continue promoting the album. There are no good singles to release and they already hyped it up enough to get a decent first week sales total. That being said I still would like them to release "Check The Record" as a final single with some kind of video. It seems if we took a poll here it would be best loved song from W2A

Then, it's likely pointless to promote 90% of the top 100 worlwide, especially in the wreckastores. Ok. Then, then it's pointless to sell anything in stores and they should all end their business. Ok. Can't the trols just quit for a while please? Never a Prince album hold so well in physical sales worlwide since a LONG time. Clearly, not thanks to the orgers, who mostly didn't buy it. But thanks to a larger audience, music lovers.

Now reached the million mark, and still increasing at an unnatural path. It doesn-'t affect any other Prince'tracks. The questions are at what number the estate will stop that cheating, and for what reasons they are doing that NOW, and for this peculiar track. I would have understood before the release of the albums, to increase the numbers for the first week on the Billboard 200. Now it makes no sense. I would have preferred the estate/Sony to invest on a music video instead of buying views on YouTube. Son of a slave master still running game after all... I .

To me that's the only possibility, yes. All of the money for the promotion will go on cheating YouTube and chasing some awards instead of actually selling the album. If Prince wins a Grammy, that would be a good joke if they put behind Son of A Slave Master. [Edited 8/24/21 5:05am]

It s common practice to buy views on YouTube, it's completely legal. It just sucks to pay money for this instead of really trying to sell the album.

Maybe someone famous who has millions of followers posted the YT link on their social media and that had a knock on effect. Who knows.

That's impossible, since it never got that increasing trend during 5 months. Why now? Why such a stable increase, day after day? If someone famous posted that track, then it would have had effect on one day or two only. Moreover, the number of comments is stuck a 2,200 since the beginning of the increasing. Which is clearly a sign of bought views. And, last but not least, that increasing concerns only W2A. The other audios/videos from W2A or catalog tracks, doesn't benefit at all from that trend
