Am considering purchasing the Japanese CD/BluRay package, as I would love to have this show. If anyone has purchased this, is the packaging much same as Standard CD, same booklet?

Hi ! Same. You have 2 small booklets,a japanese cheap black and white one and an english color one with a few pictures. All in japanese, except english booklet.

And the blu-ray is totally region free(with optional japanese subtitles).

Enjoy !

Thanks so much for the info and both images. Definitely looks like I should get this smile Little touches like the obi-strip are nice on Japanese editions.

Bluray being region free is what was on my mind also, great to hear it is region free.

À pretty enjoyable show, a party and funky one but still a "best of" concert
Indistinguishable from hundreds He made. What saves this concert is the excellence of musicians(Renato Neto, Black well, Hayes, Bassida). Without them, it would have been an uneven concert, as Rave un2 the year 2000.

Image is the best i ever see from a Prince concert, with still a few artefacts
, like close ugly shots of Blackwell drum set and a few interlaced shots). Dolby atmos treatment gives a bit more oomph and impact but spatialization is average.

Technically superior to Sign o the times or Aladdin but artistically inferior.

Enjoy !

Thanks for the details Batfunk about the Japanese bluray being region free, which confirms the theory from Bart from this thread:

I'm still waiting to pick up my Japanese CD/bluray package that I had to redirect as I was away on Tuesday when it arrived.

I felt very lucky to see these tours in bold until I see how low you ranked them. lol What made 2014 so special for you?

I really enjoyed the tours you saw too. I've never been to a Prince gig I've not enjoyed.

There is of course no 'best'. It's a personal experience. I've never attempted to ranked them before, but when I did, it clear I liked were the ones where Prince pushed his newest work/project. When he was in to it, he was really into it. The top 8 focused that.

My bottom 6 are all 'Hits' shows or 'revue' approach. But they all have some fantastic gigs in the tour. The only 'Hits' tour I rank higher was 'Nude' because it had arguably the best opening 25 minutes of any tour. I saw 'Nude' show 26 times and it never got boring.

W2A was bottom for me because of the amount of covers and shared vocals, plus some of the 5 year old routines were becoming a bit stale (Take me with U/Raspberet Beret etc). It also didn't help that I had crap seats (back side of the symbol,LA Forum).

2014 was my favourite because of the sheer anarchy, particularly in London. Gigs with only hours notice. £10 tickets. Tiny venues, new band, rock and Prince finding his mojo again. Those memories will live with me forever.

That's why the last two shows I saw with Prince in 2014 were so special--first time seeing him in a small club just mere feet away...

I heard I missed a local aftershow in the wee hours the last time he was here December 2011.

Yes, those truly hit and run gigs in London in 2014 are memories I will always treasure. Prince seemed so renewed and alive and the band were on fire at that point in small clubs. Shepherd's Bush was just transcendent... the greatest performance I've ever seen by Prince or any other artist. And Prince had set the bar high. I knew walking (or floating) out of the gig that night that I would never witness anything greater musically. What a gift.

A congrats to Prince(r.i.p.) on yet ANOTHER TOP #5 HIT ALBUM!

The estate did a BRILLIANT job with promotion adding Shelby J & Morris Hayes as spokesman was a GOOD idea.

I didn't buy this, but would have happily purchased a reasonably priced audio album. That version of 17 Days hit harder than anything on the tepid Welcome 2 America ablum. What's a Blu-Ray Disc?

It's a historical media storage format. Its made of something called plastic, often manufactured in a building made of a strange solidifying substance called concrete.

You should have mentionned that the blu-ray included in Welcome 2 America Deluxe is a Blu-ray video, successor to DVD since 2009. ;-)

this is a good concert. i dont think anyone could say it isnt.

most of that though is down to the band who are quite fantastic.

and without them it wouldnt be much.

ive only heard it once so wasnt paying 100% attention but it did seem like prince didnt really perform many songs properly. he drops verses and extends most songs to make them long jams with time for the musicians to play instead. which is cool, but its nice to hear songs played properly too. but i guess after so many years playing them, he has to find new ways to play them. he was never going to be like the stones, performing the same kind of show all the time.

its more of an aftershow vibe though, just more polished than most of those are - i.e. lots of giving time to the band and shelby, lots and lots of covers, prince taking a backseat in many ways.

Errr...yes and no?

I mean, of course I know what a Blu-Ray is, but it was more a comment on the Estate's failure to sell the concert in a univeral / massively accesible format, as opposed to a far more specialized and rare format. Even if I love the clip, and I do, I would have to buy a Blu-Ray player, install it, then buy an over-priced Deluxe Edition of a bad album, to enjoy the rest of the show.

Or I could wait for an audio rip, and download that for free.

I'm just whining, really. Pay no mind.
