Just got back from Paisley watching the Blu Ray in the soundstage. Oh man, Shhh was painful. Prince handing off his guitar before they really get into it. Renato was horrible. CLAP YOUR HANDS, STOMP YOUR FEET! zzz Prince was really dialing it in for this one.

You motherfunka!! Just kidding.Wow,sucks you feel that way.I thought it was wonderful Only part I agree with you is the "Clap your hands stomp your feet" chant

lol

The sound and video quality is excellent, but saying it's better than SOTT and Syracuse is blasphemy! Adore is better than that whole concert combined.

It definitely better than Syracuse , it blows it out water. & maybe on par with sott. May 14th welcome 2 America is maybe even better it blows ur sott show out water . But that not included unfortunately.Welcome 2 America are peak Prince performances better than small club.

Just watching it now . Just brilliant to watch prince live in this quality, no matter the quality of the set list or your feelings on the show. Saying that handing over the solos to Neto on shh is painful to watch!but enjoying it so far

The WHOLE Welcome2America Deluxe set is just breathtakingly beautiful WELL worth the price and more. I wasn't expecting it to look that beautiful when I opened the well packed box. But I absolutely love it! It's so detailed with all these little treats inside besides the MUZIQ. Not to mention I haven't even watched the blu-ray disc yet. Although I attended SEVERAL of those legendary 21 shows @ The Forum.

100%

I am very happy with the Blu-Ray and having this only made me long for more Blu-Ray releases.

I was grinning ear to ear loving the vibe of the show.

Just finished. Loved it to be honest. No it’s not perfect, as the set list and too much of the girls, and Neto, but watching it is a lot of fun. Seeing prince close up again doing a live show is always fantastic. And at this minute I’m feeling a little sad knowing what we know.

Don't sleep on this, it's the highlight of the package. Finally something they could release in HD! Is there things to complain about, sure. I'll leave that for others. It wasn't filmed for release. SO i am thankful for the inclusion.

Overall, this is a fantastic addition for Prince fans.

Prince on par with SOTT? Better than Syracuse?

That means Prince was better live on stage in 2011 than 1985 or 1987?

Dont think so.

FWIW I think it's fantastic, much better than I expected.

It's definitely an odd show, it starts lower key than a typical Prince gig and yes there is a fair bit of Shelby, Liv and Elisa (who deliver the goods big time), but I can totally see why the Estate chose this.

Slowly the show cranks up through several gears and you can spot tonnes of spontaneity going on between Prince, the band, the crowd and ol' Sport on the lights.

By 1999 he's firing on all cylinders and Purple Rain is epic. The grief he gets from the Jersey Shore girls, and the way he deals with it is hilarious. You can see the crowd laughing with him.

As others have said the sound is amazing, after all of those - admittedly really good - boots of this run of shows, it's incredible to hear massive bottom end kicking in.

I found the show moving at times, funny and exciting. I would say this is the best new official live film we've had since Lovesexy yes

There's an odd caption at the beginning saying something like: "This show began in the dark", which is pretty self-evident. I guess they included that in case someone thought there was a problem with their disc and tried to turn up the brightness?

I know Morris Hayes is off on his own podium somewhere, but where exactly is that in relation to the stage? I couldn't really tell from the camera angles. (I heard him asked about this in an interview, probably the one he did for the Peach and Black podcast. He really didn't have much of an explanation other than Prince thought it was fun to stick him off on his own.)

And speaking of keyboardist, I didn't realize there was a third one present (Cassandra). I'd never even heard of her and had to search out her name on PrinceVault. Where there any other tours with three keyboardists?

100% welcome to America shows r better than.pr tour .It not close, sorry. Much better musicians. Anyway u probably not even hear may 14th welcome to America or this Blu-ray. Maybe if ur deaf pr tour is better .Sott . I prefer the sott movie to new year's eve sott show. New year's not as good as may 14th for sure.Sorry. May 14th is legendary performance. Miles Davis spoils end of new year's eve sott .

I do
Prince got better and better over time with each tour.
Purple rain tour is great but he focused on too much theatrics...like talking to God,stopping songs just to get people to snap their fingers or talk dirty
I prefer the welcome 2 america tour because Prince was more focused on his musicanship
SOTT concert was really good as well

The blu ray was a pleasant surprise . Really dug his guitar work on Brown Skin, reminded me of the Troubador show . The overall sound mix really blue me away along with the closeups. The ending medley was fantastic with him playing the bass from the album cover which was a nice tie in. Even though it was hit laden his mere presence never makes it a paint by the numbers show , there’s some great moments of improv and the guitar less “Shhh” was cool imo because it led him to jam on the keys. The fact they picked this random show & still delivered a quality gig makes me go crazy thinking what else is ready to go in the vault .

This is epic. Just watched most of it with the wife on the big lounge TV. For a live concert, the picture+sound quality is by far the best ever released under Prince's name. The show itself is pretty jammy. Brings back plenty of memories of seeing Prince multiple times on the 2012 Aussie leg of the tour. Prince seems a little less energetic than normal, but he still SLAYS it like only he can!

Fully agree to what has been said here in the last comments.

To some extent, I can understand people complaning about the price, or complainng about the forced combined purchase of vinyl.

But I cannot understand people whining about BluRay.

Sorry, BluRay has been the video standard for more than 10 ys. now.

Whining about a missing DVD is like whining about a missing tape with the audio release.

In fact I’m glad there is no DVD.

The DVD was a major bummer with the 1999 or Purple Rain Deluxe release.

These video releases were only mediocre to put it friendly.

Here we finally get the high quality official video release we've wanted for years.

It has true HD sound, it has true HD video and it is simply amazing.

To be honest, I didn’t expect much from a 2011 album and a 2011 show.

As far as the album is concerned, it more or less fullfilled my low expectations.

But the video took me completely by surprise. The show is great and makes me re-think my somewhat biased opioion of his later live performances.

There must be many more videos of that quality in the archives.

I really hope that we will get to see more like this in the future.

I agree with you 100%! I bought the deluxe from Amazon for $89.00. I DO NOT think I overpaid. It's a beautiful set with a great double LP with a unique etched 4th side, the book and packaging are very nice and high quality, and the Blu-Ray disc is phenomenal. I have a home theater set up downstairs with a 110 inch screen and it was AMAZING to watch. So happy it was released with blu-ray instead of DVD, as the quality of image blown up that big makes a huge difference. VERY pleased with my purchase THANK YOU PRINCE ESTATE and SONY, YOU DID THIS RELEASE PROUD! A+

I've only got a rip of the show, so I have to ask - is there video interlancing issues on the actual BluRay?

For the most part, the rip looks fine, but there are a few moments where it isn't.

That's just the Matrix vibrating at the intensity of the funk, everyone in that crowd nearly woke up in their pods. Surprised at how much I enjoyed this concert - the balls it takes to open an arena gig in the dark with a jazzy Joy In Repitition and a Shelby tune lol

There isn't a single incarnation of the NPG that weren't superior to the Revolution live. They were simply better, more skilled and varied musicians and tighter as a unit during all formations of the band, even with the evolving personnel.

He was a far superior and skilled musician later in his career than in the 80s. I was fortunate enough to see Prince live over twenty times and my all time greatest concert by Prince (or any other artist) was Shepherd's Bush, London, in 2014.

Yes! Those would be some of my most sought-after live performances, along with the Act 1/2 tours.

For 3RDEYEGIRL, I'm hoping there's some good quality video of their initial raw small club appearances and the first leg of the HitNRun tour before Prince started playing arenas with them and diluting the sound. Those gigs were mind-blowing.

I'm very happy with the sound and audio quailty of the blu-ray. The show is great as well. It's almost like an aftershow, with an interesting set list. Too bad about the sound quality of the album, though. Actually shameful.
