My gut reaction always goes to the 1991-1996 period. I actually enjoy a lot of the Gold Experiences quirky and out there styles. I don't think the band during this period ever looked on point with Prince but...

Did he ever really wear the same thing twice after Purple Rain? And even then? I know a section of Paisley Park was a dedicated wardrobe department.

Also, I always thought that in his later years it was weird that he wore pictures of himself and his album covers printed on his outfits (20ten and AoA come to mind). Reminded me of those halloween costumes where you got a plastic mask but the "costume" part had a picture of Superman or Batman on it with the words "superman" or "batman" printed on them.

IMagine Prince walking around at the 1984 AMA's with a flowing robe like shirt that had the cover of Purple Rain on it or showing up at the UTCM movie premier with the front and back covers of Parade on either side of the outfit.;lol
