How did she do it? She can't sing she can't play.

This is...interesting. Since Brenda Bennett interviewed that Manic Monday was originally a Vanity 6 track, and its overall melody borrows heavily from 1999, I'm fascinated to hear what, exactly, Apples thinks she helped co-write on that one. Glamorous Life was originally to be an Apples song, and the lyrics are known to be inspired by Apples (brown Mercedes sedan, mink coat, etc.), so this claim is more believable.

I mean, she could've contributed words or something to either song. Let's assume "The Glamorous Life" was based on some elements from her life. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Don’t know why but I believe her. Maybe because she’s still a fine looking woman and I’m a shallow bastard

Is this really true? Their verses have a sing-songy quality, but are the notes very similar? Funny how I love one song and hate the other.

She's also saying she co-wrote "Mia Bocca," "Oliver's House" and "Next Time Wipe the Lipstick Off Your Collar."

I wonder how they worked out royalties, if this is true. She had to have gotten something, considering how much Prince had made, and how her career went.

Even purchased lyrics at auction for the occasion. .

am now listening/watching the interview, but Glamorous Life was inspired lyrically by the brown Mercedes (apparently an old beat up Mercedes) that Apollonia drove and the fur coat she wore. . Not sure if she had some experiences that ended up in the final version of the lyrics of Manic Monday, but as far as her "writing" or co-writing anything musical with Prince, I'm skeptical. Oh, so now she's a comedian

Inspired by, perhaps, writing? No. But of course the word inspired to Prince could have very well been enough to command a writing credit. He was much more giving to the ladies with the writing credits in the early days than the men, and I am sure I don't have to spell out why that is. Prince wrote Manic Monday and Glamorous Life for Vanity 6 -- a real band that he actually promoted. Remember the triple threat tour? . You can listen to Brenda Bennett at 38:54 talking about Manic Monday being for Vanity 6. https://soundcloud.com/in...-interviewJ
. And Jesse Johnson at 1:26 also talks about Glamorous Life and Manic Monday being Vanity 6 songs. https://www.iheart.com/po...-82876233/

Not a comedian either... The lead actor for Last Dragon is also a much more reliable source of information about Vanity's role in the film. . Taimak Guarriello Talks V... - Essence ESSENCE.COM: While you were many women’s object of desire your leading lady Vanity had a legion of male fans. Were you one of them? . TAIMAK: (Laughs) Of course! Who didn’t love Vanity? I was 19; my boys were like, “You’re the man.” In fact, I picked Vanity. During the callbacks for her role there were several women there and Berry Gordy pulled me aside in a room and asked me which one would I want to play the role, and I was like, “I pick that one!”

Then WHY is there a V6 Version of "Sex Shooter" (For the NEXT V6 Album but Vanity quit) that SMOKES the A6 Version???

Except she said it was in Spanish when it wasn't. The first sentence in the chorus is Italian. [Edited 5/30/21 15:26pm]

Revisiting Prince Vault's entry for the Apollonia 6 makes it plausible she was made to feel like she contributed, and/or he updated some lyrics from their original demos (although we don't have examples of that, we can't rule it out). It is a lot of material for a project involving someone who couldn't sing, (but then a lot of those songs went to Sheila who wasn't really singing yet either), so maybe he was trying to create chemistry, and keep her active around the studio.

Prince Vault also claims that Little Red Corvette was written for a woman who crawled out of obscurity to take credit right after his passing. She calls herself LRC.
Do you not find Brenda Bennett and Jesse's accounts trustworthy?
At 38:34 https://soundcloud.com/inthestudiowithams/brenda-bennett-full-interview?utm_source=www.lipstickalley.com&utm_campaign=wtshare&utm_medium=widget&utm_content=https%253A%252F%252Fsoundcloud.com%252Finthestudiowithams%252Fbrenda-bennett-full-interview . Brenda: And Manic Monday was one of our songs - it was originally on that album. Vanity 6 originally did that song. Interviewer: Did Prince write that song? Brenda: Yes he did. Brenda: It was recorded first with Vanity singing it, and then when Apollonia came on board, he brought her into the studio and overdubbed / put her vocals on as the lead vocal. . Peggy McCreary describes 18 hour days alone with Prince in the studio, where he hardly spoke with her, but he felt a need to keep Apple active? [Edited 5/30/21 16:53pm]

Prince's copyright is the final word. You don't get to give yourself credit for an artist's published work. Are you saying that Jesse Johnson and Brenda Bennett have lost their minds?
Brenda did not say that Apples wrote 50% of the lyrics -- she said she overdubbed Vanity's vocals and that Prince wrote the song. And Apple didn't record Manic Monday either. You are claiming that Prince had nothing to do but keep Apple entertained in the studio -- Peggy McCreary who was actually an important person in the studio would disagree.
