Stern on the death of Prince

I can't find anywhere what he said on the day after he died.

i wouldn't trust howard stern to give a respectable statement on the death of a houseplant, let alone prince.

He was on vacation then. The first show back was May 2, 2016, and he talked about it a lot that week.

Probably in the SiruisXM app. Although, doesn't Stern show have an app now with all the shows archived? If so, you could sign up for a trail and access those shows to listen.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Howard loved Prince. He praised his genius and talent for years before and after his death. He spoke fondly of him after he died. He said (I am paraphrasing from what I remember) he can dance like no other, shred the guitar, write incredible songs....Robin was also very complimentary.

Just because he made fun of him at times, like he does with just about everyone including his parents and himself, does not mean that he had the utmost respect and admiration for him. He calls the Batman soundtrack "the greatest soundtrack of all time."

yeahthat

He mentions him quite a bit.

Howard goes apeshit when Fred plays Batdance. It's brilliant to him.

Now he's on vacation till Sept, new contract gives him 2 months summer break. sad

Well deserved long break after 40 years in the business.

He does mention him often on the show. Always, musically, in very positive terms.

This title belongs to Purple Rain,
but I can see his point.

Starting with Around The World In A Day, the albums were all haunted by Europe in some way (Swingin' Lundun, Gay Paree, the Tours),
except maybe for Lovesexy, which reaches for The Universal (salsa, rockabilly, hard rock, gospel, rap, techno, soul),
a concept unnatural to Syracuse and the world; they usually prefer to stick to clear, well identifiable mono-culture labels
(hence why most never understood Prince leaving the Purple Rain formula behind this fast).

SKipper sure nailed the coffin of the eighties OST format with that one.
He nailed eight years of Reagania too.

Skipper vaporizes Dirty Dancing, Top Gun, The Beverly Hills Cop,
just to name some shit you and I still hum totally inadvertently under the shower (where's the vaccine for that?).
No eighties OST matches up with Batman©®™ (Great Balls of Fire and La Bamba don't get to play).

They all sound phony, except here and there, a young Kenny Loggins and some Bacon stuntmen,
a slimy Sly driving his Lambo through the night, James eructing the Way Of Life,
Madge drying her armpits or coaching Matthew Modine at dawn.
A metal wielder? Here come the union lobbyists.

The Purple Director opens his Bat-Flick straight up to drama, in an anguished post-atomic-blast gospel.
Our Hero is already in deep shit and gets sentenced straight to Old Sparky for free will crimes.
Suddenly he puts out his secret weapon, the Model-C, ejaculates pentatonics and octaves on the minions,
douzes all the audience in corn syrup, throws in some Barnum Fanfare for good measure.
In the chaos, he escapes through the back-door to a smokey jazz joint,
reappears totally stoned in broad daylight aboard a rollercoaster,
stops for some porn, shakes his shaker making God-knows-what-went-into-this cocktails,
cooes and promises orgazmz betta than Fourth of July fireworks,
and interrupts just when you were about to climax with a commercial.

Which ends with the devil’s laugh.
Welcome 2 America indeed.

Hey, make the whole sleeve a commercial too, while we're at it.
The French call it: "mise en abyme".

Howard talked shit about Prince for years before he died.
.
Howard went to some private concert where apparently Prince wanted the stage lights dark - at least at the beginning of the show.
.
So dumbass Howard LEFT the show.
.
And while Prince was alive, he couldn’t bring up Prince without referencing this and denouncing Prince for it.
.
Since Prince’s passing, I’m not sure if he has mentioned it. I know that right after he was on-air live, several days after, he had very complimentary things to say. He kept saying “he should’ve been on my show.” That would’ve been interesting.
.
He also believes Prince was “at least bi.”
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.
