- Thank you so much ! I looked to find some info : https://www.billboard.com/photos/7348493/prince-memorabilia-mathieu-bitton-collection-rare-pictures/ The guy indeed has some serious collectables. Could it be him in Sunset Sound ? Why would he listen to Prince's music there for an upcoming release ? Is he involved (for the artwork) ? - Yes, for Born 2 Die that’s just coming out, and I think for Welcome 2 America. He also did the ‘Ultimate Prince’ artwork. There may or may not be something coming!

Warners put out the film, it was not art house. And double feature films haven't been in vogue since the 50s. . Also has nothing to do with Vanity's role in Last Dragon being discredited -- whether she previously did B films or not, she did not steal apple's part. Purple Rain won an Oscar for the music, not for applesauce's acting.

Thinking about this interview a bit more . . . Apollonia is quoted as: - Having the lead female role in The Last Dragon (before Vanity stole it)

There is no point - you are gaslighting. And calling someone out is just that.
.
So when apple claims at the end of the interview that the A6 record went platinum, but she still hasn't received her plaque -- that was surprising, so I went to the RIAA database looked up Apollonia 6 and got no results -- but when I typed in Vanity 6, the album's 1985 gold certification came up -- see for yourself: https://www.riaa.com/gold...ch_section
.
And no need to write me back about how it is possible that RIAA made a typo in missing Apollonia's platinum certification.

I've also been thinking about the interview some more. While I think that Patty is sincere in her beliefs and what she says.. it just emphasises that Prince was a manipulator. There have been several people that believe that they inspired/co-wrote songs. Probably not least because that's what Prince told them. He was basically bigging them up. Made them feel talented as fuck. . At the same time, he did take inspiration from any and everything around them, so the stories, phrases and words that people used/told came back in what he wrote. . In this case, it seems like Patty believed some white lies Prince told her and probably misremembered some other things. I'm sure the Mia Bocca lyrics story is about In A Spanish Villa (I wish I could get an instrumental version of that song!) . There's a long history of conflicting stories about songs from the Prince camp, not least from Prince himself. I guess he thought it helped the mystique and I'm sure it wasn't bad to keep people motivated if they felt more ownership of whatever project Prince had them be the face of. I think Apollonia plays guitar solo on Purple Rain.i mean no way Prince could play that good.

When your property is stolen, we'll join you in saying 'who cares'. And why not credit Picasso's maid for his art while we're at it -- we'll get Moma to interview her for hours. Why are you commenting, and listening to the interview if you don't care -- ah right, you didn't. She is not up on her record sales because there are none.

While married, Apple told Dave that Prince wouldn't allow her to see him during the filming and rollout of Purple Rain, and David said of course, it's Prince... and don't worry, I have plenty of women to tide me over while you do your thing.

Clearly can't get enough. Don't worry, when someone claims your property as their own, remember it doesn't matter. Run along and watch those 12 Falconcrest episodes apple appeared in, and then you can spin the one song she (co) wrote after her 15 minutes with Prince. And do let her know where her platinum award for the A6 album is -- she's looking for it. Funny she's been in the entertainment industry for years and is only searching for these things now.

Wait, we have the Vanity 6 version of Manic Monday?? I only knew a few elites had a *good* copy of the A6 version that was almost released!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
According to Brenda Bennett, Manic Monday was a Vanity 6 song. When Vanity left, Prince gave the demo with her vocals to apple to overdub. I think some folks need to realize that just because we don't have a bootleg or copy of something, doesn't mean it never existed. Prince recorded all the time -- Dylan sometime wrote on toilet paper. Brenda was there. Regardless, apple never co-wrote the song -- didn't even pay for her studio time. [Edited 6/6/21 12:47pm]

Yes, anyone with intelligence can see the interview is a joke -- self promotion based on the convenient fact that Prince is gone. Sunset Sound must be desperate for clicks. . For Purple Rain, Prince created a new master in the studio, the album is not a live recording of the First Avenue show -- he did all the overdubs himself, except strings. So the record is by and large Prince playing all the instruments. This is according to Duane Tudahl's book with studio session notes.

The only song I can find by apple - lyrics (producer Ish) on her lone solo album. . 'Since I Fell for You' - appears to take it's title from Bonnie Raitt's 1971 song, which is sublime, unlike this one. .

Here's what Tudahl's book says about the Sept 13/83 studio session (1pm - 12:30am): . "Now that he had wrapped up work on 'Baby I'm a Star', Prince refocused on the title track. For the first time since mid-August, he began adding overdubs to the song. For seven hours he corrected mistakes he heard in the live mix, including rerecording parts of his own solo, which were probably overdubbed during this session. "Prince knows what he wants," explained Peggy McCreary. "Any leader of a band does." Prince was ruthless with anything he felt could be made better, and like he'd done with 'Baby I'm a Star', and other songs from the live August benefit show, he replaced parts recorded by the band members with his own."

Is this implying that on all 3 "live" tracks he completely replaced all the Revolution tracks (i.e. none of the keys or drums or bass are from the show?) or that he just fixed the mistakes?
