"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - New Director's Cut RnRHoF director Joel Gallen posted this on what is pr...uTube page, with the following caption: "17 years after this stunning performance by Prince, I finally had the chance to go in and re-edit it slightly - since there were several shots that were bothering me. I got rid of all the dissolves and made them all cuts, and added lots more close ups of Prince during his solo. I think it's better now. Let me know what you think. Joel."
The closeups of Prince do stand out now, and it seems to highlight Prince during his solo. I still think one of the best moments is when Prince leans back into the audience, and Dhani Harrison has this huge smile on his face, his head bobbing, just enjoying the showmanship that is Prince's performance. Tom Petty seems relatively unaffected, but Jeff Lynne can be seen smiling as well. It's one thing to have Prince on stage playing every known guitar trick (and really, nothing he did on guitar is new, he just did it to a very interesting song, and... well, he's Prince), but it's quite another to do it to a song like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

And still not shot of the guitar returning back to Earth at the end of the performance...

Yes, agree on the moment he leans back to be caught by his bodyguard. I'm sure it's the first time we've been able to see a couple of the other guys smiling along with Dhani at his showmanship. . I enjoy his performance even more after Morris Hayes revealed P told him he kept it low key in rehearsal but then went full on Prince on the show

He said something along tge way that he was laughing because he was embarresed.Maybe it's because he is on stage with music legends and all he does is strum unplugged acoustic .lol

Interesting, I remember him saying very positive things before.

On the night he was smiling and nodding at P and at the end could be heard saying 'where's Prince?" but a few years later... . Dhani in an interview: "the classic back bend guitar throw, which was a little gratuitous...I was smiling because I was just like...oh man...I can imagine Tom and Jeff wondering what the hell is going on...I was just kind of laughing at how awkward the whole thing was..."

Wait...does it really matter anyway?? The solo is cemented as LEGENDARY! It’s the only evidence I ever need to display to friends how badass Prince was on Guitar. Who give two fucks about what someone as musically irrelevant as Dhani says about it. It speaks for itself. PERIOD!

Nothing in what Dahni says after the fact alludes to him saying anything bad about Prince or the performance. He's affirmed the fact that he enjoyed the showmanship. He's just commenting on the unexpectedness of the whole thing. Dude is a profesional musician and everyone is saying that he's playing an unplugged guitar? At his father's induction to the hall of fame? Little bitch? Talentless? Cunt? Twat?
Seriously "ladies" & "gentlemen"? That's fuckin' petty
Y'all are way too fuckin' sensitive. [Edited 4/29/21 11:43am] [Edited 4/29/21 11:43am] [Edited 4/29/21 11:44am] [Edited 4/29/21 11:46am]

I actually like the original cut of the performance better. This new director's cut is a little too "busy" for me with the zoom in of the guitar and split screens. Still it's cool to see the different shots. I'm glad we have both. [Edited 4/29/21 13:26pm]

I just have seen a couple od Dhiannis music clips.First thing i noticed is he can't sing.second thing is he still can't play guitar.third thing is if Prince didn't do what he did nobody would even talk about that clip that achived a legendary status

I dig the neww cut, and I especially like how triggered Dhani's comment makes people here even though I disagree with him lol. It is amusing to see how easily his words sets people off so much as they have here [Edited 4/29/21 14:06pm]

Who gives a shit about what Dahni said or didn't say? His father (who was DEAD btw) was being honored as well that night and also wrote the god damned song to begin with so he's allowed to opine.

- Let's keep it like that. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Without being too random in a walk on role ala the walk-on dude from the movie Airplane, I'd like to officially announce I thought of NipTuck not nitpick when I read that. I'd also like to say that I wish I wasn't so on the fence about Tom Petty and George Harrison's son but I guess im general now that I have a visual in my brain about the performance and haven't even seen the edit tweeks I have to conclude with I don't think any tweeks were necessary. And I almost rewrote that to say twerks and would have been totally able to sleep with it. I just woke up to Nile Rodgers' "Acoustical" and decided that I want to hear that every day to get me going in the morning. Correction the song by Nile Rodgers is "ACOUSTISONICS" (my bad) so I'm gonna just pretend that I either wrote lyrics for it or did a remix and named it acoustical. Because I love running my imagination like that. [Edited 4/30/21 5:44am] Welcome to "the org", heartpeacesheart…
