We'll see what they do to make it right and a fitting release. Why they chose not to make it a real event is beyond me. The Time is an important band both to music in general and to Prince.

They will set up some tour dates for Morris to sing for his supper and he will get a few TV appearances to get him some change for his pockets.

Perhaps they could include a concert recording from the Controversy Tour?

This is a great idea. It's much better than some pointless single edits.

Going forward it is definitely valuable to get MD the the rest of the band onboard, both for marketing and for credibility. Although The Time was a Prince project from top to bottom, there's definitely value in having the original seven on good terms when it comes time to do write liner notes, or review remastered tracks, or participate in podcasts or promotional material etc.

I’m cool with the vinyl release. But I don’t see anything about a digital release. I want a streaming expanded edition REMASTERED. The Time albums are an important part of Prince’s legacy and DESPERATELY need remastering! Doing this expanded edition right would include an iTunes/streaming version along with the vinyl!

Well good for Morris then. I ain't really in the business of shitting on folks who are trying to get a piece of the pie they baked before some other jagoff sells it all underneath him.

I fully expect the music to see the light some day regardless if his bit of campaigning doesn't result in a bigger release.

What would be OUTTAKES from the Time(1981) album?

.

AFAIK there are none. Perhaps the Estate has discovered some interesting bits, but IMHO it would be more likely they'd keep those for any Prince deluxe sets from that era, since I doubt there is such a wealth of outtakes from that era that they could give away some.

I agree it is more likely they would keep a Prince version of the Time songs for a release with his name on it, such as an Originals 2 or expanded Controversy (though The Time's debut would have been totally recorded after, right?).

Eh. My original vinyl still plays fine - and I did a digital rip of it back when. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

There ya go. Discussion over. Mr. WB has spoken.

I'd bet cash money that there are some.........this is Prince we are talking about.

I think maybe the thing folks are forgetting is that Prince was just recording music as he always did. He took the funkier more R&B songs and put them toward the time. He was already shopping his vault, like he did for everyone. There were no real "sessions" with the band, because it's 99% likely Prince played everything on his own, just on any given day.

Were there other songs during those sessions? Most certainly, but are they outtakes meant for The Time? Not at all.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
