In The Vault According To Joe I was just watching the Joe Budden Podcast and he claims to have heard that allegedly Prince recorded an album that he put in the vault with the instructions that it not be released until 20yrs after his death.
Does anyone have any info on this?

I've often thought Prince was capable of keeping back a killer album, one which he considers to be his best work, only to be released posthumously. Wouldnt surprise me at all if he wanted to remind the world of his brilliance 20 years after his death. If true I'd also bet it sounds fresh upon it's release. My password is what

- Sorry, I don't want to sound rude, but that is plain bullshit. The guy was desperate for attention and stardom and hits. Why a constant urge to release albums and single releases ? Cause he wanted to be heard and accepted and be one of the biggest. Remember he did not trust anyone ! How many worse than mediocre albums did he release after his popular years ? All the constant changes of managements, labels, etc ? And all the efforts and attemps to try to reinvent hiself, and all the attention grabbing changes that constantly went on ? The countless bad protegées he kept on launching time after time, unsuccesfully ? The incredible amount of changing looks to stay on top and in the media, etc... Reeally ? He must've been the numero uno massochist artist ever out there. I don't think so. - If this is true, that he wanted a fininshed album only to be released 20 years after his death, then it might've been a ''The Black Album'', meaning somewhat 'dirty / naughty' album, recorded later on in his life (for nostalgic reasons?) type of work. Or an album where he finally had some sane doubt of his (annoying and rediculous) believes. And still I love this whimsical guy, but by all means, don't expect it'll be a killer album. We have those already. Peace though. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Why 20 years if this is true at all?

Although I highly doubt the '20 year' story, this is an artist who never released tracks like Electric Intercourse, All My Dreams, Moonbeam Levels et al. He held plenty of fantastic stuff back.

I would believe the rumor if it stated 7 or 17 years after his passing......

As soon as I heard Joe Budden and podcast I made my decision that this is BS "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I'll just say this U can agree.....or U can be pissed
Prince was prolific as hell when he was was walking above ground
Unmatched by anyone around
Prince's material will be prolific as hell when he is no longer hear Unmatched 4 my taste when all we have left is tears
U folks can speculate until u pass out But it seems u have never understood What Prince was About
May U see the Dawn FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

- Exactly ! Come on, there's no artist who purposely wants to do that, or did. Don't forget that Prince also needed the money for his high end lifestyle(s). I really don't believe one bit of al this. Btw, how can you trust Prince on this? I mean, the same guy released more forgotten albums in the 90's, 00's and on. And did proove time and time again he so desperate wanted to have a big hit and/or a comeback ; Emancipation, Rave albums, Musicology, 20TEN, etc - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. He's a huge Prince fan...as well as an industry insider who may be privy to information that the general doesn't have access to

I wonder if it could be ‘The Dawn’? Prince spoke about this album, saying “the world isn’t ready for this”.

Pleasure... I mean who knows what's in there at the end of the day, but videos like these make me salivate. Jimmy Jam also said something similar about amazing unreleased Time records in the vault. He and Terry approached Prince to produce these and he was apparently open to it. We shall see... Of course for us rabid fans, even Prince's scraps and scratchy demos will do, lol. . I like hearing from Morris too... he seems sincere and honest, and not looking for an ego boost. I can see why Prince had him around for so long.

. Also the 'Estate' does not really communicate well w.r.t. ault contents, planning, etc,. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Seems just like something someone made up based on the stories about the vastness of the vault. There are bound to be albums he put together that remain (mostly) unreleased... We know there were several projects at various stages that were dropped.
