Nice - thanks for sharing!

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't believe he forgot the combination of the vault. Rather, it was his way of ignoring, yet preserving, hi past.
He could easily have had a pro come in and open it....or drill through the not-so-protective sheetrock.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

the problem with this community is that there are too many people who care about cat doodles and too little people who care about music

well he pulled "extraloveable" out to rerecord it so he must have had access post 2010.

i always thought, judging from the pictures, that the 'pre-vault' is simply there because
there is no way all those boxes would even fit in the original vault. it was simply full to
overflowing.

that he forgot the combination might be true, it might not be. but it seems a bit like it's
mythology building, another little interesting soundbyte and nothing more.

Yeah, apparently they didn't find W2A until 18 months ago.

Edit: I can't believe the decision to release W2A is so fresh. Why can't they move that fast from discovery to release for any number of other things we would probably rather have before W2A. Like the last tour shows. Or, anything else.

I would rather have Welcome 2 America than the last tour shows.

They can't please everyone all the time.

It's pretty interesting that Stand Up and B Strong was actually recorded in 2007 and the version on Welcome 2 America is a different take done in March 2010.

Sure would have been cool if the estate released that as the first single with the original version as the b-side...

since the original was recorded with michael b and sonny it probably came from the Lotus/3121 recording session(s)? if so that version probably ROCKS.

judging from what we've heard of W2A this far, a Lotusflower type rocking track would probably
not fit that well so he might have rerecorded it slightly more poprock to fit this particular album?
also elisa is on 'co-lead vocals' for this one so there's that.

but since Lotus is one of my all time favorite albums i hope they will release both. but seriously, we all know they won't mad

seems their favorite surprises they found in the vault are still I FEEL FOR YOU acoustic and P&M83 so i'm getting tired of hearing from these people at all if they can't share anything new due to their NDA

After reading that Michael Howe interview, as a Superfan, estates are annoying as a whole. The Prince estate is just thinking about how to make money which I get and understand lol they don’t care about Superfans as we aren’t the majority and that’s alright. I’ve accepted that. However… Outside of us, nobody is buying this shit lol they already released the money makers (Purple Rain, 1999, SOTT) outside or maybe diamonds and Pearls nobody but fans are going to buy stuff from now on so they need to come together and figure out a way to monetize the rest. Quick and easy way is to just upload a bunch of shit monthly online (ala NPG music club) and do a subscription thing. Hardcores will pay. Even the ones they complain all the time. Rant over

This from the article about the blu-Ray interested me,

“...but this particular show was one of the few with multitrack audio and multicamera footage.”

This suggests to me they might not release live stuff unless they have better than soundboard recordings, presumably so they can re-master it.

i knew it. suggested this and was met with "everything was filmed perfectly!!!!" from a few people

if anything, the videos they've chosen to include with 1999, sott, and w2a lend credence to the fact that there's not near as much video as we think there is, either that or they're holding themselves to an incredibly high standard. i mean, hell, the audio alone on the 1999 sde dvd was pretty lackluster. people don't understand the difference between a soundboard and a multitrack live recording.

I'm too hoping for a NPG MUSIC CLUB subscription type website but i'm afraid it might only happen after the release of Purple Rain SDE in 2024 so not before 2025 IMO.

When the "big money maker releases" starts to dry up a little bit...

Wishful thinking, but it would be nice once all the cataloging of all the material is done a full list is made public so we know exactly what's in the vault and from there a NPG CLUB subscription service moving forward.

Just remember this form every article or interview Howe gives ;

''there are surprises on a regular basis, but I can't talk about them.''

So far the biggest post Prince news, every time and again and again.

-

There must be a team working on all that music, right ?

He's in charge, ok. But how many people are actually working on this ?

Howe can't be alone... so, ''He speaks regularly with Troy Carter'' ?

Regularly ? Thats sound meager.

For me The I feel for you early demo was probably one of the least interesting things so far to have been released

Personally I find fully formed songs I've never heard before far more interesting.

I still don't get why they have an NDA like this. People already know half this shit. So tell us when it will come out.

Thanks but no mention of the 'experts'?
