Frère Jacques

I was listening to the grieving widow Sheila E.'s In Romance 1600 today, and remembered how they briefly played "Frère Jacques" in the song about 8 minutes into it.

Then it hit me. This isn't the first time "Frère Jacques" was used. One of the remixes of "Pop Life," I believe the one Sheila did, has it in there, too.

THE GRIEVING WIDOW

just responded to Prince's quirky bass rendition on "A Love Bizarre" with a sing song rendition on her "Pop Life" remix.

AND?

It's a nice connection for Purple Nerds to recognize.

biggrin

I've listened to the songs, many times. But no, I haven't sat and put together a spreadsheet of shared elements across his vast catalog. You win.

TBH man I've read this thread and I still haven't noticed it because it's been literally years since I played the Fresh Dance Mix, not when i've got the actual extended version sitting there looking at me.

+1

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
