And a lot of that stuff was OOP etc. With Prince most/all of the important/relevant things are easily available. The Estate should focus on the stuff that is OOP or rare or in need of a remaster (when it comes to previously released items), and that is mostly the 12"s, and it is clear by now that we'll likely only gonna get those as part of SDEs.

.

If they want to do a box set collection like the Depeche Mode one -- https://www.discogs.com/D...ase/243800 -- there would be some value, but it would still be only a relevant release if the price is kept low, since most of its contents will already be part of existing SDEs or of future ones. I don't see such a release becoming a major seller, and thus it's likely not a priority for the Estate.

.

Of course the real problem is Prince failing to curate his back catalog which caused fan releases of vinyl rips because that was the only way to obtain those tracks. Such collections should have been released decades ago; I can only be happy that in the early 1990s Warners Europe released a bunch of CD singles with several 1980s extended versions, but unfortunately those were a scattershot and vastly incomplete effort until the likes of T's "12inch Archive". Now it's 2021 and still many of those tracks are not available on CD, in part because the Estate is failing to come up with imaginative releases.

No idea what OOP means...

but I agree on what you say.

I've been saying this for a long time in several treads here.

The gigantic lack of imaginative one off's or inbetweenies by the Estate, just to keep the $ rolling towards them from us older and hardcore fans whom are getting thinner and thinner, must be something they're aware of too.

What seems to be their real problem?

We still get no proper comprehensable answer from anyone involved.

Of course it's always about money, but...

Call me naive, I'm certainly no expert, but am I wrong thinking that The Estate & Paisley Park Enterprises (or how it's called) are seperate money sucking companies...

Do they actually get along ?

OOP = Out Of Print

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
