Prince songs you thought were from a different period What are some Prince songs that you were absolutely sure the song was from a difference period than the one it is actually from?
For example when I was a kid I actually thought for years on that "How come u dont call me anymore" was from 1986 rather than 1982. Reason being is because when I hear it,in my mind I picture prince as Christopher tracy playing the song on piano and perhaps trying to seduce Mrs Wellington. [Edited 1/12/21 21:27pm]

Make Your Mama Happy - I always thought this was from the 90's. It sounded a bit like Emancipation era "we gets up" type of a thing. Or maybe from the early 90's with the NPG hornz section. - So, the fact that it's from '86 was a bit of a surprise to me. "New Power slide...."

not directly topical... but when i first heard the intro and opening of "Take Me with U", i was so blown away, i thought (and still think) it was from the future... the beginning of that song is one of the greatest pieces of music ever created by anyone...i always felt like that song never gets the credit it deserves as a timeless masterpiece and classic... in spite of Apollonia's off key howling

Back when I was only a casual fan, Iād never have thought Raspberry Beret was released as late as ā85. For some reason, my mind had it pinned down as ā82.
