On another thread, we were discussing these Sony releases. It came to mind that I still don't own N.E.W.S., One Nite Alone, One Nite Alone Live, or Crystal Ball (5-disk version). It took me years to buy one of the concert copies of Musicology, then somehow ended up with the regular retail verison on CD, as well. Not a favorite album for me, yet I own two copies.

So what albums have you never purchased or don't otherwise own, at all? We're talking ones that have been released on CD, not virtual things like Xpectation, The Slaughterhouse, The Chocolate Factory.

Any physical format counts here. LP, CD, cassette.

This is a good question. It used to be that I only bothered owning physical copies of my favorite CDs. After he passed away, I became a bit obsessive and decided that I wanted to own all of his albums on CD (normally I'm a minimalist, so this was a bit unsual for me). It took me some time, and I obviously had to settle for used CDs for some of the out-of-print titles, but now I own all of them. Had I waited a bit longer I could have gotten newer, cheaper versions of many of those previously out-of-print titles. My impatience costs me some cash.

Actually, I do not own The Very Best Of, but I don't think the greatest hits collections count... at least not the ones where he had no involvement.

Oh, and I'm only talking about full albums. The only CD single I own is 7 (because I love the accoustic version).

Yeah, I didn't wanna include singles, because... who cares? LOL Too much to comb through on that one. I figured proper albums were easier.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

^ This and because it was just a cash grab for WB. I have every album on CD, as well as on vinyl (if it was released on vinyl, incl. Madhouse, Girl 6, Exodus, etc.) except the purple reissues. Unless the vinyl has some previously unreleased songs I'm not buying it again just because it's purple.

I think I have six different pressings (CD and vinyl) of The Black Album alone. boxed

purple and black edit

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

:hmm2:

Those are the released dvds covered but it does highlight the gaps of already released material that are long overdue an upgrade or at least a digital transfer from video.

Lovesexy 1 and 2 (assume they'll be included with a Lovesexy Deluxe Edition set)
The Undertaker
The Sacrifice of Victor
3 Chains of Gold
Gett Off Video EP (kinda barrel scraping - maybe release with a D&P Deluxe Edition?)
Beautiful Strange

I hope they don't get forgotten for upcoming reissue releases.

The only album non-special edition reissue on vinyl i have bothered with so far is the Rainbow Children. I doubt i'll ever pick up the rest unless I come across them cheap second hand. I'd like a copy of Emancipation just for the sheer ludicriousness of it on vinyl, but not at what it goes for.

After that, various expensive obscurities like GoldNigga and Kamasutra. I figure i'll be picking up the odd related artist 12" single or albums where Prince has one track on it here and there for the rest of my life.

Also,I currently do not have a uncensored version of "emancipation"
I have the edited version that I think only edits out the Cuss words in "Face Down"

Never knew such an edition even existed.
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

It could be a Walmart thing. It's amazing and hypocritical that they'll sell R-rated movies, but demand artists censor their work on a music album.

Either way, it exists.

Clean version, with profanities backmasked (tracks 3-4 & 3-8)

The catalog numbers appear as follows:

7243 8 55063 2 1 (spines & discs)
E2-55063 (spines, back tray insert & booklet)
E2 55063 (discs)

Seems "Face Down" and "Da Da Da" are the edited tracks.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Region free is a thing with DVD, they aren't all regions locked the specification specifically allows for a region free disc, so it's worth checking for any specific one you want to buy. VHS isn't region coded at all but you will need compatible NTSC or PAL equipment depending on the format of the tape. In the UK many tv's and vhs players were multi format, so could play either.

I'm aware. Region free DVDs weren't always a thing. The only PAL VHS I have is the Ghosts movie by MJ.

Region free was in the DVD spec from day 1. It wasn't much used but the option was always there for manufacturers.

RIP sad
