None of that makes a lick of sense in this context.

Neither of the songs were released until they were released together.

Someone else said it better, but it's more a case of Prince scrubbing the high romance and frolicking aspects from some of his Susannah songs (ie Forever in my life, big tall wall, tbodp).

Tbh I find it really hard to get into the first version. I ain't black.

i was answering his/her reply directly (not yours) and it made complete sense in context to me, and thats all that matters, to me... mind your business next time

RJOrion, Really ? smile)))

Is there a need to divide a song amongst skin colours?

LOL smile

You know, I absolutely don't believe in white and I don't believe in black.

I believe in Prince fans going bananas on his tunes,

and I do believe firmly in all creatures who love music, squirrels, dogs, pigs and humans!

wink

Much needed peace to us all.

-

its no secret that black people and white people hear and react to music differently... a fact not lost on record makers, distributors, labels and radio stations and club owners... so while the whole "we are all created equal" rhetoric is quite cute for mass public assumption, its far from the actual truth... Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder BOTH could see that [Edited 1/5/21 13:46pm]

-

Agree.

But the "we are all equal" is of course much more nuanced.

I'm fully aware of that, but I need more time to give a thorough explanation. wink

Either way… "listening to music" is a similar experience for all of us.

How one reacts to it has been scientifically proven (first of all) as an individual approach.

After that it is possible to divide or generalize groups.

Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder are with me too. wink

Peace.

That doesn't mean there won't be an objectively discernible way to assess the quality of one's taste in music. Maybe it'll take AI or some sophisticated future brain imaging technology. But I'm pretty sure the whole of my brain lights up when I hear something I really dig.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

The same for me.

I can still get super excited for new music.

For instance, the new Roisin Murphy album is on strong repeat since it's release.

Just love it.

I am minding my own business, so nothing for you to worry about.
You posted something on a public forum and if you don;t want people to reply or retort to that then don't post it here, a simple concept seemingly lost on you.
And if you think you can take your takes wherever you want then everyone here can to, you're not special so you don;t get special treatment here. This forum is not yours nor is it your personal space where you can demand from people that they 'mind there business'. We're all here to discuss and if you don;t like that then use your email or something to email yourself your frustrations and discuss it with yourself if you're into that or something without spamming and bothering everyone here with your personal problems.

like i told the other conceptually challenged replier, i posted a reply to a specific commenter, in which we TWO exchanged ideas with EACH OTHER...it wasnt an open invitation for a non-moderator to attempt to moderate me... with that said, if you were minding your business like most mature grown folks do, you would have grasped that not so obscure concept... but you didnt...bless your heart

Your belitteling sarcasm is quite sad and quite telling about you, nobody is attacking you. This is still a public forum and if you don't want people to "interfere" then take it up to orgnotes. It only seemed to me you wanted to come off as edgy and a troll with your shallow observation and obviously you like this attention.
I have no ill will towards you or anything but please remember this is a public forum and telling people to mind there business is only amusing and you seem to fail in understanding this simple concept.

I have to look up what a goofball is... but,

isn't it worth much more to keep the peace here?

I mean we're all here for the same puprle thing, right ?

There's so much tention everywhere and I would like us all to at least try to be real ladies and gentlemen to eachother..

At least that is my humble wish, and I think/hope I'm not alone.

Discussions are fine. Agree to disagree is even better.

Just wishing we could all get along much better.

That's all really.

we are being "peaceful" though... there is no harm or foul in disagreeing... we are all so different so its a natural thing... and disagreements are also accompanied by uncomforatable exchanges ... and that is fine and natural as well... i see no problems as long as things dont become profane or physical... there is no anger or tension here...this is akin to harmless barbershop or beautyshop or barbecue banter and bickering... no harm no blood no foul...
