Favourite high profile era throughout Prince's career? 1999 era, Purple Rain Era, Batman Era, Diamond and Pealrs era, Musicology era or 3121 era?
I'm going with Purple Rain for obvious reasons.
What about you ? | |

My favorite era is the "purple" era from late 1982 to 1985. I know it´s not so cool these days to prefer that era over, say, the SOTT and Lovesexy era and band but there´s just something very magical, raw and energetic about those years. I could listen to those warehouse rehearsals for days, I just love his guitar sound of those years, and that he was still a bit more down to earth while at the same time being on top of the earth, if that makes sense. And soundwise the era was probably not as sophisticated as his 1986-88 era but I really love that LM-1 and his guitar sound of that time, and the synths. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Agreed, 2004 onwards for me. Mostly because, unlike other high profile eras, I was an adult with the income and freedome to be able to see Prince live and experience a lot of this in person. Definitely a great time. It also seemed like PRince was having a lot of fun too.... [Edited 1/14/21 8:51am] "New Power slide...."

Lovesexy. It was a big hype in Holland. Even a song like Glam Slam became a hit. When Prince toured, it really became crazy. DJ Jack Spijkerman pretended to have Prince in his radio show and people turned up at the studio to see him. It turned out to be an impersonator (the DJ was known for making jokes), but it says something about the hype that surrounded Prince that folks were willing to believe any rumour. If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.
