if prince had to make an 'influences' cd, what would be on it? a cd as in those compiled by one artist or band to showcase influences or just songs that theyre really into, like the 'dj kicks' or 'late night tales' series
now these arent really songs i think prince would choose, but i think they illustrate clues to his own music from artists he liked (ive not included songs he 'paid tribute to' like robert palmers addicted to love as thats too easy)

There is a sort of build it yourself playlist in the book that came with the One Nite Alone box. Many many songs on that one. Someone will have it but I don't I sold my cd collection.

We don't know enough about his new wave influences but Tubeway Army should probably be on that list.

- I agree. I'm sure Prince was also influenced by Gary Numan, even more than Devo i believe. Certainly the sound from his early rude period. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)
