exactly.
i dont think theres an appetite for CB re-released.
a proper release for the truth however, as long as its packaged properly, i would love that. esp as it was an album that never really got released as it should have been.

I agree, I think if anything SONY should issue CB in a digital format and call it a day on that release. To invest in packaging that thing and pressing cds and vinyl wouln not be worth it. Unless you do a RSD exclusive and print about a thousand of CB and maybe also do an issue of THE TRUTH and not make it as limited because its more in demand, and Kamasutra I wouldnt do at all, it ranks up there in NO DEMAND right next to repressing the NEWS release. A remastered CB would be fantastic. I love (most of) the album. . Having bought the original 5 disc with no artwork and no track-listing, anything would be a bonus for me.

You re wrong, terrribly wrong. I m in drmand for a CB re-release, and I think every harcore fan who bought the 6 LP émancipation would buy it on vinyl too. . Moreover, a friend of mine never liked any album from Prince, beside... NEWS. He really loved it. Strange, but true. (Another friend told me the same story about his wife : the only Prince album she liked was NEWS, primarily because Prince didn't sing at all!) afew years ago my friend who didn't like Prince was determined to buy it, but couldn't understand why it cost 120$...So he s still in demand for a physical release of NEWS on CD, at a reasonable price.

Bring on the triple vinyl pressing of NEWS!

I agree - it flows really well. Some time and attention went into the sequencing of this collection.

ObjeCtively, Crystal Ball is one Prince best album ( along 1999, PR and SOTT) , if only by the sum of great tracks that is in it, that is unbeatable. I discovered the album in 2003, it didn't sound like it was recorfed in 1986.

I’d buy the heck out of CB on vinyl. Hopefully, any slowdown is just a case of taking stock combined with dealing with the COVID disruption. Would be surprised if it’s anything more than that.

I just read that The Hits 1 is being released on purple vinyl in Germany, but I don't believe it's Sony doing it. NeoManifesto on Twitter had a tweet about it. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

•The Truth •NEWS •Xpectation •Exodus •Newpower Soul Planned to be released in 3 different marketing campaigns. 2 before before Sony receives the distribution rights on the rest of the Post-Warner catalog. Exodus/NPS will be after. The Truth will have its own campaign/section on the site. The NPG releases may be released as a 2-set. NEWS/Xpectation will be released as a jazz set. Clear vinyl. All of this is tentative and dependent on the 2021 deal that they're working on. This is from someone I spoke to at Sony.

They re not supposedto be in the deal, they re not on streaming services. . The truth was released with Crystal Ball. I don't think they would release it otherwise. . Then what about Kamasutra? It wasn't supposed to be in the deal neither, since it is attributed to NPG ( like Exodus and NPS).

They're both on Tidal as part of the deal with the estate. The only one not on any services is Kamasutra, which I overlooked to mention is supposed to be part of the jazz/instrumental set. It is scheduled to be a triple disc "box set" and to also sold separately. This is all pending at the moment.

But I m Baffled, because Kamasutra is not really jazz and not from the same era than Xpectation and NEWS ( contrary to C-Note).

Back in the day some fans were commissioned to create an online version of the booklet, I really like it http://princeonlinemuseum.com/timeline/crystal-ball-online-lyric-book/

Hearing that news that there's more in the pipeline is very good indeed...
I don't understand why anyone thinks they WOULDN'T release any of Prince's albums.
Saying there's no appetite for Crystal Ball to be re-released is nonsense. Prince is a legacy artist now. His legacy is his music. There's no reason (other than legal wrangling present with some albums/tracks) that ALL his albums shouldn't be released.
There was appetite enough for a six-LP release of Emancipation, which one might have imagined would never have happened.... but it did... I'd say Crystal Ball is even more likely than Emancipation, due to it having several vault tracks from his classic period.
I want them all... and yes, probably most of all I can't wait for the 2LP NEWS release. One track per side, it's going to be glorious.
I fucking love that album.
But still, all these 'wilderness years' releases will be out there eventually.

Why would the NPG set be two albums? They had three Check out The Collector's Guide to Prince on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/p...4ldzxwlEuy

You can still download it all to print out (link to the original site in andrewm7's link. Much better than the phyically released artwork.

So they r choosing ( for us) to release his jazz lps rather than the many other funk| rock lps he had in the vault???

Seeing how well SOTT deluxe sold. I would think we will have more physical releases. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I think "Crystal Ball" will be released as a 3 CD Set and "The Truth" separately early next year. So far Sony has gotten the short end of the stick but it would appear they are going to be the ones to release deluxe editions on most of the catalog soon. It would appear WB only has the soundtrack albums left. Parade, Graffiti Bridge, Batman and Purple Rain.
I'm sure 1999 and SOTT Super Deluxe editions had great profit margins but the Sony reissues? Not so much. Only way to make it worthwhile is expensive box sets.

I just had a thought, and I'm sure this has been covered somehwhere else on the site - will Sony have access to the vault tracks for the relevant period on these remasters? And how is it decided what the relevant period is for, for example, Around the World in a Day?
