La la la, hee hee hee on SOTT Deluxe

Sounds great. There is a lot of talking and chatter that I can hear at certain parts (I think it's Sheila) that I never heard before. From the middle interests. Or was that always there?

And I must add that this stuff sounds great through a good pair of headphones. Much better than in my car. You hear so much more.

Yeah there seems to be something buried in the mix... i am pretty sure it was always there...

I do hear that some of the horns were also used in "Soul Psychodelicide"

my big question was why was the alternative take of "la la la he he hee" not included in this set!?

Yeah, the 10 minute alternate take is pure gold.

As I have said many times...the sound in the set is PHENOMENAL. Lalala is one of those tracks where I was really impressed on what was made clear in this remaster. There is a lot more background talk that I hear...lots more low end bass stuffs happening. I know these songs very well but never heard a lot of this.

Superb

I love La la la hee hee hee, maybe more than anything else on Sign or Lovesexy? To me, it's the defining track of the era, and maybe the culmination of the 80s.

I very much agree. The "My Tree" early version is vastly superior to what was released.

which is not to be confused with the later song also called "My Tree"

and I assume it is the one I have heard...basically the same main lyrics but a noticeable different vocals. and none of the 'yo releative...' and 'don't bite nobody...'

He just wanted to use a different vocal take. I love both... it should have been included in the SD set.

This song was great to hear, after hearing SOTT.

I consider it a 'proper' 1987 new song, thanks Sheena Easton for the connection.

Was she singing anywhere on this? or in the studio

the Demo? I am not sure what you are asking. The song (at least the one I know of) seems finished.. he may have intended to put more on it...but it is not a bootleger edit or trick.

The very start sounds a bit chopped as if the tape is caught or somethin'.

I like that it does not have the constant 'bark'. The brass on it is SICK!

I had the 12" SOTT/LLL,HHH long before I had the album. I remember loving SOTT but LOVING LLL, HHH. I played the B-side much more than the A-side.

I don't know if it's a "culmination of the 80s" as someone else posted, but it's definitely a culmination of the SOTT album sounds. Is it the best of the bunch? I don't know, but it's definitely in the top half of the SOTT material. It's album-quality.

I love the story of how Prince said he could write a song around anything. Sheena Easton made up the title of La La La, He He Hee and Prince accepted that challenge. And we're lucky that he did.

Overall, it's my favorite album and favorite of Prince's band!

This song is so good - it sounds mad on the SOTT SD. I too heard vocals and bass plucks I never heard before. It's such a great performance from Prince - it's all personality and that along with the funky instrumentation make it work so well even though the actual song is quite slight.
