If a country musician would cover Prince songs...

If a country singer would cover Prince's most country songs, which songs would you choose?

I'd choose:

Train (i don't think anyone ever mentions how this song could be a great country song)

Rocknroll Loveaffair

You're My Love

The One U Wanna C

Purple Rain

I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man

Kiss(the demo was very country-ish so a country singer could do this... just don't sing it in falsetto lol only Prince could do that)

Right The Wrong (Obvious choice...)

She Loves Me 4 Me

Forever In My Life

TrevorAyer

sometimes it snows in april would be a country hit in any era

billy jack bitch would be great if he deletes the phrase "billy jack bitch" from the entire song

I would say the country covers songs could be as follows:
Raspberry Beret
Sweet Baby
Morning Papers
Willing and Able
Fury
Electric Chair
Delirious
Gotta Broken Heart Again
Still Waiting
I love you in me
So blue

Prince would often perform Alphabet Street live in a country fashion... which I thought was okay occassionally for a gimmick, but I wish he would have kept it funky most of the time.

Trisha Yearwood has said she'd love to cover "How come U don't call me anymore"

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

He sang a country song, "Everyday is a Winding Road", in a duet with Sheryl Crowe and made it bluesy.

.
That’s not a country song
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

On American Idol a couple years ago, Caleb Hutchinson did a credible job covering “When Doves Cry” as a country tune. (Not sure if it was based on an existing arrangement by someone else.) Worth a listen if you haven’t heard it.

. That’s not a country song

It was written by Sheryl Crowe (country artist) and 2 collaborators as a 'road song'

Anyway, that was not the point

...How was it "not the point"? It's not even related to the thread if Sheryl Crowe being country was "not the point"...

Alphabet St would make a great country song.

I think little red corvette would sound good as a country song, kind of like shania Twain’s don’t impress me much, which in my opinion has a prince like melody

Also Sheryl crow is rock/blues but I remember her work from her self titled album playing on the country music channel, including everyday is a winding road, which is a great song by the way

Prince was the very first to reach out to shania wanting to collaborate with her. They met and exchanged ideas. She talks about it at the 6:30 mark here.

Possessed (1982) would make a great country cover, and I could see it being super popular at a line dancing bar.

Brenda Bennett already covered Blue Limousine in a country/blues style. It's on YouTube, as "Bluelimousine"

Electric Intercourse could be a pretty compelling country song.

Drive Me Wild, Wet Dream, No Call U, Jealous Girl and Extraloveable would all work as country songs, too.

Adore would be a kick ass country song. I sing it that way and it sounds so good.
