DEVO talks about early Prince More here. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

- Always been a fan of Devo. But this is a bit odd. Prince playing pre-Controversy tracks in 1979 ? Or are they talking about the 'sounds-like' stuff ? - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. That would likely have been this performance - 1981, as opposed to 1979 - i.e. still before the release of Controversy: ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

There's a good chance they also saw Prince again in 1981 then.
Unless he played Dirty Mind songs instead and they mixed that up.

- Say that again ! I miss the excitement of the early eighties, late seventies. There just was soooo much going on at the same time. There were 'camp's' that rivaled each other. Disco versus (Hard) Rock, New Wave versus pop, etc. Compare this with the 90's and ought's. I mean bands like Devo, Visage, Fischer-Z, Ultravox, the young Talking Heads etc. The contemporary industry pop versus what actually? OK, we have great bands and artists like Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens etc, But to me it isn't the same... - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves.
