I even made a topic about if Emancipation was only one track or something like that.

I don't mind letting the songs breathe a bit but I'll play along (without trying to figure out the running time):

Delirious Automatic & International Lover are what you'd deem to be filler? Not of the same quality as say, Free? Interesting I guess.

Free is a great song as I said, but the mix is too rough, and doesn't really let the background vocals in the climax breath. According to me, of course. . Delirious' melody is too simple, exasperating and sounds grating. Too rockabilly for me. I understood it was a hit in the US mainly because DJs often played the first side of the LP consecutively. It didn't age well, and I m impressed it was a hit because it already sounded dated in 1983. . Automatic is way too long and self-indulgent, and lacks of a melody. At least Delirious has one. . International Lover is not a bad song at all, but was it really necessary to justify a double LP? Sounds like a rehash of Do Me Baby, but not as powerful and lacks of a climax. The melody and the chorus are not catching, and doesn't deserve a 7 minutes and more treatment. . All The Critics Love You...I never liked this "song". It s more an experimental song, than really a song actually. It s just Prince having fun with his Linn Drum. Not exceptional. [Edited 11/11/20 21:04pm]
