sequencing HitNRun Vol. 3 If there was a HitNRun Vol. 3, what might be on it? I realize Prince likely didn't have a list and there is no definitive, factual answer to this question. I'm am asking that we use our imaginations and speculate, with the understanding that what we come up with is probably a million miles from the truth.
Volumes 1 & 2 contained some older songs that Prince had released as stand alone Internt singles earlier in the decade, so I assume a volume 3 would similarly have some previous released material. Perhaps Fee Urself, If I Could Get Your Attention, Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone, Turn Me Loose, Hot Summer, Welcome 2 America, Same Page Diffeerent Book?
Volumes 1 & 2 also had some original stuff. What other songs did Prince recently bank before he passed? I know there was Ruff Enuff with Mono Neon. Any other songs from Black is the New Black? Frida Kahlo or Rumeta? Anything else?

It's anybody's guess.
Prince said that Free Urself and Ruff Enuff sounded great together.
It seems like Purple Music was coming out of the vault with it being played so much on the P&M tour. So maybe an updated version of that.
Pangaea is another one of those songs mentioned with Frida Kahlo. |

Well, according to Prince himself there was a Phase Three, and Free Urself was on it... At least that's what he said... |

Based on vol one and two, a third would be surplus to requirements. I think these are cool for how they pursue different sounds, but not much special in the way of songs. I liked hearing them Live though. |

Well, according to Prince himself there was a Phase Three, and Free Urself was on it... At least that's what he said... Prince did indeed state there was a Phase 3. It's also logical that the two exclusive tracks delivered to Tidal - 'Free Urself' and 'If Eye Could Get Ure Attention' were intended for a new project as they both have similar production and as Prince tweeted, 'Free Urself' was at that time included on a configuration of Phase 3. The 'Ruff Enuff' mentioned in the same tweet is believed to be Prince's earlier solo version. 'Black is the New Black' is simply a different project from different sessions. 'Ruff Enuff' was rerecorded during those sessions. Another distinct project was Prince's reinvention of the minneapolis sound with full orchestra. Half-finished leaks such as 'Frida Kahlo' and 'Rumeta' originate from these sessions. |

I dont remember the tweets to be honest. Does anyone have em? I remember Dr funkenberry saying Free Yourself might have been going to be part of an Ep prince was planning to give to tidal. But like anything with Prince, he could change his mind at the last minute. |

I didn't realize there's a Prince solo version. I found the Mono Neon version on YouTube. Is the Prince-only version in circulation?

There was an instrumental version released first followed by the version with Adrian Cruthfield on vocoder. . I really liked it when played live on the P&M tour |

You wasn’t any kinda right. Marco told you what was said (someone asked on Twitter what was on Phase 3 and he replied Free Urself) but you still disagreed and reply with your stupid comments
I'm not being stupid, Phase 3 i believe was more fans wish full thinking more than anything else. Prince turned his thoughts to Black is The New Black. I don't believe an album Phase 3 exists. Just the impression I got from A dr Funkenberry podcast talking about some of Princes plans for the future. Phase 3 wasn't mentioned. |

You're framing this issue as a choice between two ideas: either Phase 3 was something totally in the fans' mind, or it was an actual album with a realitively settled track list.
What everyone is trying to explain is that Phase 3 was probably somewhere in between those 2 ideas. Yes, it was probably only ever in the concept phase and never solidifiied into any actual album. However, the concept of a Phase 3 was something that crossed Prince's mind, not just the fans'. As we all know, Prince was very capricous. He probably noodled around the idea of a Phase 3 but never got very far and obviously didn't pull the trigger.
If you go back to my original post you'll see them I'm asking people to speculate on a hypothetical track list. I didn't ask the question as though a genuine, definitely track list literally exists.

'Black is the New Black' was simply not the only album project Prince was working on. This was common for Prince. As were various versions of tracks circulating multiple configurations of potential albums. As I previously stated, we know for a fact Prince was also working on an album reinventing the Minneapolis sound.
It is quite legitimate and credible to speculate on sequences and configurations of Phase 3 because Prince mentioned a configuration of Phase 3 himself. He just had no immediate plans to release it at the time of his tweet. [Edited 11/8/20 18:45pm] |

Has anyone noticed that chart goes from 1978 through 2017? Obviously it was made before Prince passed, and making a uniform mosiac with 39 photos (instead of 40), stopping at 2016, would have been a challenge... so I understand the practicalities of why he went to 2017. It's just weird to descrie it as picutres for every year he was in the business, when it's actually every year plus one.

More than one image of some of the years was included by the artist, so Prince could choose which he prefered. |

Generally, you made a sequel of an album when it was highly successful commerially and artistically (like lately McCartney 3).
Surely Not when you hardly sold a few dozens of thousand copies worlwide of albums that were purely ignored by the critics. .
How ludicrous it was when you think about it.
.
By the way I fantasised at the time on a Phase which would have unreleased tracks from Purple Rain, just to mess with WB. [Edited 11/9/20 10:42am]
