Some of the lyrics in 00s songs are a bummer you have to try to ignore. Similarly and recently, I'm always jammin' along to Blanche and forget about the homophobic slur until the preceeding rhyme. That's a downer right there.

The howlings on Something in The Water are so cringe worthy that it ruins the song for me.

Oh God I love those! Still gives me chills in the same way The Beautiful Ones does. I also love all the "I'm so cold" stuff on Do Me, Baby - who else does this shit?! cool

[Edited 10/29/20 3:48am]

It takes some doing but that's his cringiest moment on record for me.

If I want a bit of Do Me, Baby I go for The Hits edit. I can't bring myself to listen to the album version.

I always took it pretty straight forwardly as the cool feeling of [post-coital] sweat on skin.

I read the slur in Blanche as being in character...Stanley Kowalski is the epitome of brutish hyper masculinity. Interesting that there have been critical theories on gay themes/subtexts in "Streetcar."

I'd like to believe that but that's giving Prince a lot of credit and leeway that I'm not sure is merited. It's still a killer track, it just mars the enjoyment of it a tad.

The Max would be much cooler without Tony in the chorus and Mayte's howling.

3 Chains O Gold gets uber-cringeful when Mayte says "give back the chains, if you don't you will die..."

Mayte should never have been let near any of Prince's music.

After some purple (on the phone) discussion with another purple hippie,

we've concluded that its a lonely feeling one gets after 'masturbation'
that feeling of dropping

'the Lonely Cold' -what song is that from again?? Oh extended version of Shockadelica

Shockadelica is a feeling, the lonely cold, ...

in lust we will suffer but in love we will grow...

the lights go out, the smell of doom

Is creepin' into your lonely room

.
He's actually not having sex on Do Me Baby:

"You just gonna sit there and watch?
Alright, ooh, mm
Are you sure you don't want to close your eyes?
Well, isn't it supposed to take a long time?"
.
Shockadelica Power Fantastic ie Masturbation/Wet Dream
.
Late at night, when the world is sleeping
you are frightened, 'cause the Power's creeping
In your room is something you're afraid of
Life or doom is what this feelings made of
Minor G is the cord of pleasure...

.
All my dreams
(Star of all my dreams, are you a good tambourine)
Are you good, are you bad
Are you just unnecessary means
Tambourine

Planet Earth: it's never going to be a classic but I quite like the song for the most part. Then there's that weird section in the middle where he seems to be channeling Barry Manilow's ( / Take That's confused ) 'Could It Be Magic?' I had to make en edit for myself that removes that section.

Listening to SOTT SDE last night, I realized the one thing that doesn't necessarily ruin the song but annoys me about it, is the open highhat throughout most of "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man."

SOTT is a very noisy album in that regard. Not always a bad thing, but some elements do stick out, to me. The biting, overused snare in the breaks of "Play In the Sunshine," the open highhat in "ICNTTPOYM" are examples.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

wow... thats one of the things i love about that song... its so rock & roll... almost gives it a garage band feel...on both songs you mentioned...but especially on NeverTakeThePlace.

The Question of U

The cartoonisch soundbit about 4 seconds into the intro just before the drum kicks in ... WHY??? It doesn't ruin the whole song, but certainly destroys an otherwise epic beginning of a song.

LOL. and again, Ilike that of key singing of her so much.

It was so 'Prince' to keep that in this great song.

I hate Ingrid Chavez’s spoken intro to ‘Eye Know’and Kirsty Ally’s ‘contribution’ to the Symbol album. He seemed to have a penchant for choosing women with annoying ‘innocent-but-sexy’ voices (not true for Kirsty- she just sounds so stilted as the journalist).

Oh yeah, I was listening to that one volume crancked the horns and their vocals make that one a little crazy like it's supposed to be. Extroverted. That one could have been played during a Madhouse show. It is the opposite of the other version that has a more introspective thought.

Well I'm not saying they aren't. WCF is probably my most listened to song since it's release, for ex. These are just my pet peeves. I can't think of any prince songs I refuse to listen to except for The P.

WCF....When Cows Fart?

The salma daughter song Valentina.

Love 2 the 9's could have been one of Prince's GOATs but as many others mentioned he done all messed it up.

The added keys on Endorphinmachine, not necessary. I believe the Black Sweat sine wave is illegal is some states.

Pussy Control - the name "Pussy Control".

As to Joint to Joint - the cereal eating part is one of my fav parts ("You dont love me...[munch munch] you're faker!) but the tap dancing however.......no just no.
